Zoey doesn't hate demons. But fighting demons gives her purpose. And a family. So when she sees Rumi's patterns on that rooftop and watches the honmoon ripple and tear, she's not scared. She's worried, because Rumi —her Rumi —is obviously suffering.
She thinks she'd rather watch the honmoon fracture apart than see her or Mira get hurt. The only people she's enough for, and not too much for. The people she can be her whole self with and who still love her for who she is. And she loves them in return, more than anything else.
For them, she'd be tempted to watch the whole world burn.
Good thing the world doesn’t have to burn, and the honmoon doesn’t have to suffer for her to keep her girls safe.
