“I know that Tom, but I really do think this will do well. Phillip is an old friend of mine and he has an amazing history of fostering before. He adopted his oldest, Wilbur, a few months ago.”
He sighs again as he keeps driving, making many turns as he navigates the streets of Brighton.
“Yeah, well, I don’t think he needs another bit-”

Tommy has been tossed around from homes since he was seven, surely this one isn't any different. They just seem.... nicer and why does he care what they think? He told himself no attachment, but why does he feel like he never wants to leave.

While obligatory, this series challenges a few pervasive narratives and hopes to rewrite foster aus as a concept through radical acceptance, diversity, and realistic healing.
Most people writing foster aus have no idea what they're doing. And tbf- that's okay. Most people aren't reading foster aus for accuracy. But as someone who is knowledgable about these systems and the trauma of foster care, I really wanted to see an au that tackled these concepts head on. So I did it myself.
Thus, encompass was born, a foster au that tackles topics such as
-disability
-neurodiversity
-queer identities
-self harm and recovery
-abuse cycles
-intersex identities
-how the foster system actually works
-guilt, shame, and pride

Tommy stumbled through the snow, ears ringing and body aching. He hadn't expected Dream to be that mad. He definitely wasn't expecting Dream to blow everything up. Right now all he expected and wanted to do was go steal all of his older brother's shit and maybe find a way to get back home along the way.
What he didn't expect was to wake up frozen in the tundra without his hearing. What Techno didn't expect was to suddenly be dealing with his deaf younger brother who refused to tell him anything about what happened to him.
