Jason recognizes the kid on the news, he realizes, when he idly glances up from his book to the TV playing silently in front of him.
That’s not unusual, per say.
Kids from Crime Alley, from the Narrows? They make the news all the time, and he knows, or knew, a lot of ‘em. They’re always warnings, tragic and broken, and even if they don’t use the kids’ names, he can usually recognize the faces the headlines are paired with.
They aren't usually being labeled as "domestic terrorists" on national television, though. But maybe Percy Jackson's just always been an outlier. Jason remembers he was a pretty weird kid, from the very few times they met.

Not literally of course, as it's kinda hard to fall when you’ve been strapped to a table for an indeterminable amount of time, writhing in agony.
But it sure feels like he's falling.
Down, down, down and right out of his mind.
But the worst part is, he doesn’t even think he minds anymore (at least it might make everything stop hurting).
Or, Peter gets bit by a Spider, Norman finds out immediately, and our favorite web-slinger’s backstory takes a few wrong turns and Peter loses his mind.

Like, “Hey, being Spider-Man is great and everything, but there’s a whole, whole lot the public doesn’t get to see that comes along with being part spider, and not to freak you out or anything, but you just need to read through this list of frankly insane-sounding effects that you might not ever even encounter with your specific mutation! Have fun and let me know if you have questions!”
Or maybe something like, “Hey, so you should know you aren’t a monster, but you aren’t exactly human anymore and can expect some changes in your near future. Just wanted to let you know that! Feel free to consult this notebook I've been keeping since my own bite for changes and potential solutions.”
Pssh, yeah right. Like either of those would work.

Shane just got traded to fucking Boston. To where Ilya was. With no apparent fucking reason in the middle of the season. He just won them two cups, why was this happening?

Shane gets traded in the middle of the 2016/2017 season, just before the All-Stars. The Tuna Meltdown never happens and Shane and Ilya amicably decide to stop seeing each other but remain ‘friends’. Both are very ‘happy’ with this decision until Hollander is traded to Boston. Now they must work with each other on the same team while Shane wonders what the hell happened in Montreal to get him traded in the first place. The Boston Raiders learn that Shane Hollander is not a chicken, or a virgin (lol) like everyone believes. And the Metros learn just how important Shane was in winning those cups.
And Cliff Marleau is just trying to figure out why Ilya’s messages to Jane stopped.

Slight canon divergence for Episode 4 & 5. In which, Ilya makes a chaotic bisexual best friend who he can actually confide in. She convinces him he's down bad for Shane which leads us to the Tuna Melt incident. How does Ilya handle all of this? And then when Ilya finds out about Rose he is devastated and convinced he's going to get back at Shane... except he cannot bring himself to actually date anyone so he brings along his new bestie to be his pretend date at the club.

Heartbreak and hockey don't mix.
Boston's Ilya Rozanov decides to do what he'd been putting off for years. He calls off his affair with Shane Hollander, Montreal extraordinaire, right before a Montreal vs Boston game. He gets a hockey puck shot right into his hamstring for it. Right in the middle of the game. Honestly, he never guessed Hollander had it in him to be vindictive.
As for Shane...it works. He didn’t want to see Rozanov anymore. In this game. In this season. And now Ilya’s out. Ball and chained to healing and recovery, pain meds and physical therapy for the next year. Maybe when Rozanov comes back, Shane will be able to stomach breathing the same air as him again.
And Rozanov will be back. That much is guaranteed. Shane just fails to measure how back Ilya Rozanov will be. If he thought Rozanov was a nightmare on the ice before his injury, he’s got a reckoning coming.
