Grian bolted through the passage, counting the seconds to try and judge how close he was to home. After several minutes of panicked running, heart pounding in his ears like a drum, Grian slotted the torch back into the bracket onto the wall. He emerged from the secret passageway into a lit cave, bioluminescent vines coating the walls. Slowing his pace, Grian knew he was safe for the moment. No one would question him now—especially not here.

Wilbur didn’t bother taking the stairs and instead flew up to the mouth of the tunnel home. Ducking into the tunnel itself, Wilbur could hear the echo of Grian’s running footsteps in the other way.
The tunnel was too small for him to fly, so instead, he started to run. It had been years since he had run that fast. It had been since he was a young child before his wings had come in.
His ragged breath was the only other noise to merge with his footsteps against the stone.
He had to get back right fucking now.

Settling at his desk, he pulled out the letters, letting the paper scrap into his hand. Laying them on the desk, he put them in order of the dates. All it took was a glance at the top of the open one to tell him where it went in the timeline. To anyone else the handwriting would have been impossible to understand, but Impulse read it with ease.
Setting that letter at the far edge of his desk, he sighed. The date on that one was December 30th, exactly two years ago today.
Impulse wasn’t ready to read that one.
If he was being honest with himself, he might never be.

Summary
As if they heard his thoughts, there was the telling sight of headlights driving slowly down the road towards him. Considering the security wouldn’t let anyone not approved through, and the rest of the civilian guests had arrived, there was only one option. Leaning against the wall carefully not to get too much dust on his jacket, Techno waited as the lights got closer and closer.
The night was quiet which made it easy to hear the pounding steps just inside the front door before it swung open. Chayanne popped his head out, looking over at Techno before following his gaze in time to see the car pull to a stop. However before it had finished the stop, the door was already flying open as Tommy jumped out.
“TECHNO!” Tommy yelled, running straight at him.
Techno didn’t move and braced for impact as the teen reached him. With a small smile, Techno returned the hug. “You didn’t die. Maybe I do need to raise the bar.”

Someone was watching them.
“Stand up,” Techno whispered, kicking Tommy gently on the foot to get his attention. “Put your phone away for a second.”
He could see Tommy’s body language shift as his mind processed what Techno was saying, and wordlessly he slid the phone into his pocket. Barely raising his head, Tommy met Techno’s gaze with a hint of fear in his eyes.
Slowly Techno shook his head. “It’s probably nothing.”
Before Tommy could respond, he subtly shifted in front of the kid and looked around. There was no one new in the area that he hadn’t already been aware of, but the feeling was still there. A feeling that could mean many things. It could be someone watching them because they recognized Tommy and wanted a picture, they recognized him and wanted to hurt him, or they somehow recognized Techno.
The last two were the ones he was most concerned about.
Those were the ones where it could get messy fast.

Suddenly Tango was slammed into the side of his car as something pulled at his back tire. Frantically he turned his wheel trying to prevent taking out another car, but a quick look to his right told him that was impossible.
Joel’s McLaren had latched its tire right against his right rear tire.
That force had pulled him straight into the path of the car to his left.

Tango laughed. "Skizz, this one is real buddy."
"It's not," Skizz hissed waving his hand to dismiss the possibility.
Tango and Impulse shared a glance as the spider remerged and began to crawl along Skizz's arm. That was enough to get him to look down and see the huge spider.

Technoblade was one of the few drivers that got a guaranteed home Grand Prix each year, and yet six years later, he still hadn’t won it.
That wasn’t for lack of trying. He had podiumed at Silverstone, Canada, Monaco, Spa, and circuits that weren’t even on the calendar anymore. Techno had even sprayed the champagne down onto his team from the top step of Monza, their home track last season.
Techno knew how to drive, and he had a car that worked with him. But still, he had failed to win a single race in the States. This year he had three chances, which there was grumbling on the track for, but he ignored it.
This year he was going to break the curse.

Tommy stared up at the face of El Capitan. His hands already ached with the familiar memory of how the next eight hours were going to go.
The route, Freerider, was one he had taken many, many times. To the point where he had set the record for being the youngest person to climb it a few days before his 15th birthday.
Now, two years later, he was back to set another record. Be the youngest to free solo it and in the process beat Techno’s record of being nineteen when he did it.
Free soloing was Tommy’s favorite way to climb. There was nothing to get in his way, and he just felt free. He was fully in control of every move, and the consequences that came from that.

Kristin nodded even though Phil knew she was out of frame. All the cameras were focused on him, and him alone.
Watching her take a breath, he knew what was coming, and without delay, it did.
“Can you tell me what happened at the fifth race of the past season?” Kristin asked. “What happened at the Italian Grand Prix?”
Phil slowly shook his head as the fear and panic of those precious moments tried to claw their way back into his mind. “We, as a sport and as a team that considers itself a family, almost lost one of the most talented and supportive drivers on the circuit.”

There was nothing like this. His mind was silent; the only thing he could think about was his racing line. Tommy had trained for this for years, and nothing was about to take it away from him. This was the chance for the world to see just who the Syndicate F1 Rookie was and that he was actually a threat, not just the shadow of his older brother.
Braking, he knew without having the check that the car was dropping back out of DRS speed as he came into the tightest part of the track. Pressing down on the gas, Tommy floated up off the racing line just a touch to line his car up correctly.
The fifth through eighth bends could be taken at a pretty much straight line if he timed right, but this was also where there was no room for error. If he was ever so slightly off his line, his car was going to become a ping pong ball between the walls.
But it was his only shot at catching Eret’s time.

Speeding onto the racing line of turn four, he managed to beat Tallulah to the outside. Pushing faster and tighter to the bends, Techno made sure to pull all the way ahead as they went into the fifth bend, that would have given someone on the outside line an advantage.
“You’re slightly over 2 seconds back from third. P4,” Phil said, occupied with another thought.
Techno grimaced as he hit a wet spot of the track. His dry tyres had been the right decision, but it still didn’t help against the couple wet spots. Turning the opposite of the sliding, Techno recovered as he barreled through the second DRS section, enjoying that opportunity to close the gap.
“Is it still the kid?” Techno asked as he took the inside line into turn six.
Phil crackled through after not even a second’s thought. “Yes, but Tommy's tyres are graining. We are debating a switch if you think you can catch Eret.”
“I’ll catch her,” Techno said, without even a single hint of hesitation, knowing that the radio listeners from Crown were catching each word. He was fine with Eret knowing he was coming for his points back.
