Summary
Talons are made to last. They aren’t alive, after all, which significantly reduces the chance of death by illness or injury and completely nullifies any age-related death. Even cold, a Talon’s greatest weakness, only causes them to hibernate. They may look and feel dead, but they’re plenty capable of reanimating once they thaw out. Truthfully, a Talon goes out one of two ways:
1. Complete and total destruction of the Talon’s body in the heat of battle
Or
2. Being neutralized by the Court when they determine the Talon is no longer worthy of the title
That’s how a Talon is supposed to die.
But that's not how this Talon dies. This Talon dies to become something else. Something more.
And for conspiring against nature, this Talon pays the price.

Damian, with his shoulders still pulled up to his ears, marched further into the room, his mouth opening to say something no doubt as hostile as his expression. Before he got the chance, Dick and Bruce’s conversation cut off abruptly.
“Damian,” Bruce leaned to the side to see Damian from where Dick was standing in front of his desk, “You know Clark, correct?”
Damian said nothing for a few painfully awkward seconds. Clark could feel the tension in the room thicken, and he squirmed awkwardly in his chair, every part of his dragon brain keening at him to remedy this overstep of boundaries.

“You should wrap up for the night,” Barbara told him almost distractedly, going back to her typing, “Finish up what you’re doing and report back to the Belfry.”
“Yeah, it’s bedtime for Nightwing,” Jason teased over the other line, his voice cutting in over Barbara’s. He laughed faintly, the mic cutting out for a second. Dick just groaned tiredly.
“I’ll be back soon,” Dick mumbled and did his best to tune out the rest of the chatter over the open line. He was too tired to deal with Jason’s teasing, and couldn’t even come up with a clever quip to shoot back at him.

Kon took a step back, prepared to make his grand escape, when he backed up right into a solid figure behind him. He turned quickly, shrinking down with an audible intake of breath, standing below the towering figure of none other than Superman himself. He wore a peculiar look on his face, eyebrows slightly furrowed, lip pulled back into what could have been mistaken as a smile, but only seemed full of forced politeness.
And then Kon heard the strange rumbling sound coming right from the center of Superman’s throat. Kon shrunk back, but this time, put himself right behind Superman and out of sight of the press.
