Summary
Mira had hoped her status as a rare female alpha would let her escape her family’s plans, but her arranged engagement to a vapid omega – no matter if she was noble – tossed her hopes out the window. Her only escape from her unpleasant reality is chatting with her best friend, who she is in no way attracted to, Zoey, and now with Zoey’s friend LavenderDemon, who understands her situation all too well.

"So, Rumi," Zoey's mother begins, so sweet and benign and unaware of the massive headache she was about to gracefully bestow upon Rumi. "Are you seeing anyone?"
It's an innocent question. Just one of those things that parents ask their daughter's friends. She asks it while Rumi helps herself to a delectable serving of galbi jjim, piling cuts of the meat onto her plate, and Rumi almost fumbles her chopsticks and drops a piece.
It's just a yes or no question.
Rumi, however, stops and very eloquently says: "Um."
OR: When Zoey's cousin invites all three of them to California for his wedding, Zoey is forced to navigate her and Rumi's newly-found feelings for each other while staying at her parents' house for four days. Zoey's trying not to explode, Rumi is an awkward, blushing mess, and Mira thinks it's the funniest shit ever. They are bad at anticipating her movements and her decisions because Katara will never have the luxury of learning the way they did. She fights dirty, not fair, and their pride doesn’t let them understand that they’re in over their heads until it’s too late.
They leave her scrapes and bruises and cuts that fuel her healing sessions. When those are done, she goes back to their suite and resumes putting together a combat bending style from stolen pieces and her experience in the wider world.

As Mira watches, she shrugs off her cropped zip-up, revealing the matching form-fitting tank underneath, and. Well. Rumi’s all lean muscle and smooth skin, patterns arcing delicate and nacreous along her body, which is. Distracting, to be sure.
But not quite distracting enough to draw attention away from the very loud red paddle she’s now holding up like a particularly athletic, overenthusiastic bidder. Or distracting enough to make Mira forget about this god-awful situation her girlfriend had dragged her into.
“Pickleball!” Rumi announces happily, and Mira briefly contemplates death and the sweet, quiet relief it would bring.

Valerie and Danny are kidnapped by the GIW due to their anomalous ectoplasmic radiation readings. In the lab, they're put trough testing to determine whether or not they still count as human. Danny struggles with the cost of keeping his secrets to avoid hurting Valerie, while Valerie grapples with the real ramifications of her suit’s technology and how ghostly she's becoming. Together they must both face their truths if they want to get out alive.
