The rookie is determined to sit up, reaching out like he could drag Chris to Claire through sheer force of will now that they've met, and Chris has to place a firm hand on his chest to keep him from rising. "Tell me she made it."
They stare at each other. Chris feels his heart break and reform in his chest.
He's lying there, displaced in time, bleeding with an infected gunshot wound, and he's asking after Claire.
It's so Leon that it hurts.

Wesker was already in a difficult position, and Leon S. Kennedy is planning on making his life even harder.

His heart still beating madly from the surge of adrenaline Piers turned to look at the man he’d just saved. “You okay?” He asked, but then their gazes met.
Those eyes.
He knew those eyes. A strange unease settled into Piers’ gut, as his brain tried to piece things together, but he didn’t get very far before he was awarded a shaky smile.
“Yeah. Thank you. For that.” The man smiled a little bit wider, breathing a sigh of relief, something a little hysterical in his voice that showed how keenly he was aware of how close to death he’d just gotten. “You have no idea how glad I am to find another human being in here! I’m Leon,” he said, offering his hand, “Leon Kennedy.”
And Piers felt like the floor opened up underneath him.

Summary
The head of surveillance at the BSAA has kept some sensitive footage a secret for Chris Redfield to act on with his own discretion. When that footage reveals that his friend Leon Kennedy is almost certainly sleeping with his greatest enemy and ex-S.T.A.R.S. Captain Albert Wesker, Chris learns that perhaps his discretion is not nearly discreet enough.
Leon and Wesker have a freaky switchy d/s thing going on, but they're being too risky about it. Chris finds out in the funniest way possible and gets pulled into their sexual adventures, but there's a lot more emotional baggage now that he's in the picture.

He thrashed, struggled, giving up on the cool façade that he’d held onto all this time from the moment he’d woken up from being sedated to the moment he’d been injected with what the assholes around him described as truth serum.
Truth fucking serum. Leon wanted to laugh. His life was a joke. When he’d broken up with Piers after their brief but intense fling he’d thought he’d reached the rock bottom, but apparently there had still been ways to go. At least until now he’d been able to lie and keep secrets to protect himself…

Leon's managing to survive the outbreak through luck, determination, and his own wits when his stress responses hit the tipping point from helpful to just plain distracting.
Luckily STARS Captain Albert Wesker is around to help him out with that. Luckily Captain Wesker and Agent Wong seem to know each other. Luckily they're both willing to help Leon get to the bottom of investigating this outbreak.
And if they happened to have mistook him for a rival mercenary out to steal Umbrella's secrets and the last remaining G virus sample, that's really not Leon's problem.

AU in which Wesker survives, though barely alive, he tracks down Chris and hides in his apartment, waiting for the perfect moment to kill him. Only to find out that it's Leon's apartment instead. And Leon being the innocent hero that he is, feels sorry for the injured stranger and unknowingly helps a mass murderer recover to full health.
How does Wesker thank him? By going after his best friend and beating the living shit out of him.
