Against his will, Max’s hand shot forward. He took the paper from David and stuffed it into his pocket, feeling it crumble against his legs—He didn’t need it, he didn’t want it, he certainly didn’t deserve it, but he couldn’t stand hearing David sound so distressed. It was really fucking annoying.
He wouldn’t use it, of course. He couldn’t—He knew how to take care of himself. He didn’t need help from David, of all people.
He didn’t need to call David.
He wasn’t going to call David.
…
One hundred and fifty-two days after the last day of camp, David got the phone call.
Or, Max’s parents suck. After a whole summer learning to deal with someone who actually CARES, he’s gonna have a hard time adjusting back to the neglect

In the month following the end of summer, it’s the final straw for Max’s parents. Unwilling to “deal” with their son anymore, Max was supposed to be sent to a far away place. Supposed to be. Before anyone could catch him, he ran as far as his little legs could carry him. He ran to the only person he could think of that wouldn’t completely neglect him. David.

Summary
Hardly any time at all has passed since the little apocalypse-that-couldn't, and Aziraphale can't seem to find it in him to relax at all, even though he has everything he knows he wants and is away from all that made him miserable. When a visit from Gabriel re-ignites his millenia-old fear of falling he retreats into himself, unable to tell his closest friend in fear of offending him after they're finally on seemingly perfect terms.
The problem is, Aziraphale has a bit of an overreaction issue, and without someone there to tell him that he's spiralling, the only way to go is down - and he's always been good at making himself miserable.

“Fuck off,” he hisses out, words slurring together. “In case you missed it, ‘m not in the mood to be bothered.”
A pause. Then, the knocking becomes frantic, bordering desperate.
With another swear, Crowley slides off the bed, wobbling a bit as he gains his footing. Whoever the poor bugger is at the other side of this door is about to have nightmares for the rest of their life, interrupting his well-deserved brooding like this. A few bottles roll along the flooring and, with one final stumble, he reaches for his door handle, throwing it open.
”What —“
Crowley freezes. Any further demands vanish from his tongue, mouth hanging open, golden eyes wide and exposed.
“Crowley.”
Oh, that voice. It’s been only a year, nothing compared to their collective lifetimes, yet it had felt so long since he’d heard it.

"How could you just leave me like that, leave Earth?!" Crowley screamed, coming to a stop just in front of Aziraphale and falling to his knees. "You fucking... stupid, idiotic bastard! Why did it take you so long to come back?!" Aziraphale said nothing. He looked down at Crowley with tears streaming from his eyes, yet a look of unmistakeable emptiness that terrified the demon. This was Aziraphale's face, certainly, but Crowley did not know if he was staring into the same soul or not.

It’s been a few months since Crowley last saw Aziraphale, and in that time he has distracted himself from their last meeting (and first kiss) with teaching Muriel about Earth and discovering accidental glimpses of their own religious trauma. Meanwhile, Crowley is unaware of what Aziraphale has been put through by the Metatron back up in Heaven, but revelations will hit him the day of the Second Coming when he finally comes face to face with his angel once more.
(Aka a fic about Crowley and Aziraphale fighting against the Second Coming, while the Metatron is intent on stopping them at every turn. Also… angsty flashbacks with a healthy dose of hurt/comfort >:)
