"Hurt you," Jason echoes, and now his voice isn't raspy because he's pretending to be Batman. Bruce hurt Dick. The first son, the favourite, the one most like him.
Bruce hurt him?
"Do you still not understand what you did? What you keep doing? ‘It is what it looks like.’ Funny how I only realised it after my death, after you beat me up and sent me away from my family.”
Dick stands up, all stiff movements. The light from outside hits him directly, and Jason realises he’s in a nightmare.
Jason was—he was dreaming. This—this man, hunched and shaking and bleeding—cannot be Dick. His brother’s face could never be dripping with blood from his father’s fists.
“Look. You’ve made me a victim,” Dick tells him.
OR
Dick finally realises Batman is an abusive piece of shit, and so do his brothers. What follows is never that simple.

This one really made me think about the consequences of abuse. This made me really notice how normalized hitting kids is and how like blind I am to it. Like my friends and I joke about being hit by the sandle or being smacked and like “Is it ever okay to hit a child?” Like the answer is obviously that its not okay but we only really think about the severe cases. IDK

And Lance knows it’s his fault. He started it, after all, but at least the biting term of endearment made sense when he was the one doing it. Keith had been talking to him like they were some old married couple. The kind who’ve been married too long and don’t love each other anymore and gripe over meaningless shit, only managing to piss each other off even further.
That’s why Lance called him dear. Because it made sense in the situation. It was a calculated insult. A strategic jab.
Keith, on the other hand, is weaponizing the term of endearment without any rhyme or reason, simply to get back at Lance.
Or: Keith and Lance have gotten into the habit of using pet names as condescending insults. They're not really terms of endearment.

There are some things that are meant to be left behind in old dirt and dust. Some towns to be forgotten, some people begged to step away from their touch, kind or cruel. Lightning McQueen wished nothing more than that- for the past to be left behind, faded into a distant memory. In that world, he never has to touch old truths of decaying wooden shelves and child bed frames, never has to step down basement concrete steps. He wished for nothing more than that- but some things can’t be forgotten. Some swipes of fingertips against would-be-dusted furniture won’t ever come clean.
Or-
Lightning McQueen has no family he wants to remember from his hometown. He has a new family now, and a new home, and would be perfectly content to never think about his old life ever again. He simply doesn’t want to, and in turn, forgets- just because he left them, doesn’t mean they left him.
