Tears flood his eyes and it’s everything he can do to keep from breaking down right there on the porch. He doesn’t want the real answer, but Booker can’t stop the question from spilling out of his mouth. “Is she really dying?” Nicky nods somberly and a sharp breath punches out of Booker’s chest, his legs buckling for a split second until the older man steadies him. “She c-can’t be…” he croaks, swallowing back saltwater as he clenches his eyes shut. “Nicky, tell me she isn’t…”
“It’s her time, Booker,” Nicky whispers, squeezing his shoulders gently. “She’s been fighting it for a long time but she can’t hold on any longer.”
After forty years of exile, Booker recieves a message confirming his worst fears—Andy is dying and he needs to come home. But coming home means facing his worst fears and the woman he loves at the very end of it all, and Booker's not sure he's strong enough to face either of them.

His hands tremble as Booker reaches for the box, tucking it in close to his body. He glares up at the other man, jaw clenching as he snarls, “I’m not going anywhere with you.”
“Then you’re going to let Andy down one last time, because she wanted her ashes scattered on the Steppes,” Joe says, slinging a backpack over his shoulder. “And Nicky and I are the only ones who know where she used to live out there. So whether or not you want anything to do with me, you’re going to need my help.”
After her death, Booker brings Andy home.

Henri looks between his two younger brothers before he gives her a beaming smile. “I stole Papa’s keys!” he says excitedly before his grin fades and he looks at her seriously. “We have a secret mission so he doesn’t know we’re here.”
Andy thinks back to the warning text and tries to hide her grin. “Oh? What’s this secret mission?”
When Booker's kids come to Andy with a very important request, she obliges. Unbeknownst to them, she's already a step ahead of them.

“Jean-Pierre Le Livre,” she murmurs, looking up at Andy. “That’s Booker’s youngest son, right?”
Andy lets out a shallow, shaking exhale and nods. “I know he told you about Jean-Pierre,” she says, the first trickle of saltwater running down the back of her tight throat, “but did Booker tell you that I was his mother?”
On a painful anniversary, Andy makes a familiar stop. This time, she's not alone.

Her arms are the Dan Ryan and Kennedy Expressways; hundreds of thousands of pissed off commuters scream in her lungs as she raises the ground and brings every last inch of her home to life.
