Beast swings its leg up blindly in the direction of the voice. It doesn’t hit anything, but there’s an answering yelp. Someone farther away shouts something.
“He’s probably confused,” the voice inside its cell says. “It’s okay, Ryuzaki. It’s me, Light. I’m here to help you.”

Summary
L's a Blue Poison Dart, an endangered species closely related to the blue poison dart frog. His life has been difficult, prejudiced and overall touch-starved. But he spends his days as L, the world's greatest detective, who's species is undisclosed to the general populace. When other endangered species start dying and disappearing in Japan, he decides he must travel there to solve the case.
On the way, he meets the Kitsune Light, a Japanese 9-tailed fox. They start a relationship, L unaware that he's next on Light's list.
