Summary
Spring. A time for students to flourish and smile, live up to familial expectations. It was something it noticed.
Rumours went around of a boy who sat under a cherry blossom tree, endlessly staring at nothing. Bandages wrapped around his arms and plastered onto his face, he didn't seem to have friends. The students passed by, rarely sparing a glance at him. When they did, it was to place bets on when he'd kill himself. In public, basically asking for an execution.
But the bandaged boy didn't know when he'd kill himself. What he did know was that surely, he wasn't human. He could laugh, he could grin, but he could not cry. Humans cried. Monsters didn't. But he wasn't a monster, was he? He was. And he knew it.

Summary
The current year is 1871, Edgar Allan Poe has been living on his own for quite some time. The seasons continued to pass alongside the dates of his novels have come out. Karl, his pet raccoon, makes an escape from the house one day and Poe stumbles upon a renowned detective who returns Karl to him, the two bond almost instantly.
On a cold October morning, there turned out to be a murder case, as discovered by that detective. Edgar didn't know who the victim was personally, all he knew was that there was a rampant serial killer on the loose. Meaning that his lonley living situation would work out quite well for him.
That is, until he remembered that he had someone 'living' with him temporarily.

Summary
Atsushi, as Ranpo quickly found out some time ago, was an age regressor. That wasn’t his issue; the issue he had with this situation was that Atsushi’s eyes were getting just a bit too wide, his gaze just a bit distant, and now Ranpo had no way out of this.
Not like he had a problem with a little Atsushi. He talked to him once or twice while he was regressed, and he was a sweet enough kid. But on his own? With no way to navigate getting back? The situation they were in was getting a little more unsavoury.A miscalculation when it comes to directions leaves Ranpo and a tiny Atsushi stranded after a case without a way to return to the Agency.

His gaze rests heavily on Atsushi.
“Oh! That’s a good idea,” Atsushi offers weakly. “Do you want me to hook you up with a friend, or something?”
Akutagawa steps closer, near enough that Atsushi can feel his breath when he speaks.
“Jinko,” he says, voice low, and Atsushi’s heart drops. “I trust you.”
Akutagawa turns to Atsushi for a favor. It's only supposed to be physical. At least, that's how it starts.
