  1. Summary

Lots of people have told me that they skipped this one because the title led them to believe it was literally about dolphins having sex, or the title confused them, or sounded too cracky. Others have said that the only reason they read this was because of the title. So, just to clarify ...

*** NO DOLPHINS HAVE SEX IN THIS SERIES! IT'S NOT ACTUALLY MUCH ABOUT DOLPHINS AT ALL! ***

Johnlock, through and through. Give it a go, I think you'll like it.

    Summary

“Romantic entanglement, while fulfilling for other people—”
“—would complete you as a human being.”

After the Culverton Smith case Sherlock is clean, working, and looking for a romantic partner—since John has told him that’s what he needs. Shame John didn’t mention he was interested in that role himself, before Sherlock went off to Rome with a gorgeous Italian copper to try to fall in love and become a complete human being.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I’ve known Silvergirl for several years now and can say without exaggeration that she is one of the kindest and most intelligent people I’ve ever met. When you combine kindness and intelligence you occasionally find a creative work such as this one. The writing is excellent, you’ll find no grammatical struggles here, no pacing issues, nothing excess to the brilliant plot. And although that’s necessary for a good work, that’s not what makes this story shine as brilliantly as it does. This is a character study, an emotional fix-it, a psychological journey from a place of tremendous pain and loss, through earnest but ill-footed attempts at redemption and distraction, and back to peace and acceptance, understanding and resolution: to love. Silvergirl may be late to add her talents to the trove of Sherlock fic classics, but her story belongs right up there with other long-held fandom favorites.

    Summary

Trying to escape his troubled past in England, John Watson has started a new life in the American West. When he meets the handsome artist Sherlock Holmes, a smoldering attraction is sparked, complicating his quiet, carefully guarded existence. Maybe taking a risk with Sherlock is exactly what John needs to feel alive again...

(This story is set in the late 1800s in the West, but it's not a traditional Western. The setting provides a rich background as the boys work their way through a number of challenges, ending up as we know them back at Baker Street in Victorian London. It has a little bit of everything in it -- sexual tension, sensual Sherlock, a bit of fluff, some angst, delicious erotica (peaches! bearded John! Walt Whitman poetry!)... lots of goodies.)

Western!lock, beautifully written, gorgeous details, fantastic characterizations of two men at odds with the world, both waiting to reclaim what they've left behind, and claiming each other in the process. Sensual, sexual, psychological, while bridging the Wild West with bustling, crime-ridden London.

Reread 12/2019 and loved it even more if that’s possible.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Fandom classic and one of my absolute favorites. This fic has one of my very fave first kiss scenes and fave lines, a super slow build, lots of pining, and superb Mycroft, Molly, Lestrade, and Mrs Hudson. Oliver is sweet and hilarious and says things like PAPA! PLEASE! Lots of insight into Sherlock’s childhood, a difficult John and Harry relationship, Mystrade in the background, some angst toward the end but nothing that isn’t resolved and set right.

"I'm so in love with you," John says, a statement of fact. "I will never not be in love with you."

Really lovely, realistic, awkward, loving, charming, first time between a kind, affectionate John Watson and an embarrassed, inexperienced Sherlock Holmes. Delightful.

    Summary

At first, sex with Sherlock was the perfect amalgamation of wet heat, slow touches, red faces, and heavy breaths. Six vignettes about sex and love and so much fondness.

    Bookmarker's Notes

“It was stretching out later on and watching each other sigh, was meeting eyes and feeling consumed and deciding that making love had actually begun with a gunshot, with an orange blanket and the request for dinner, with giggling at a crime scene and being so fond, suddenly, as if the bullet had pierced not the cabbie but them. As if it hadn't hurt and it hadn't damaged and it hadn't broken them but had mended, had united, had made them whole.”
