Vlad drags Danny to a gala with a proposition: ingratiate himself with one of the Wayne kids so that Vlad can finally himself a one on one meeting with Bruce Wayne - after all, everyone knows that man does anything for his kids.
Danny figures that if he does the exact opposite, then he can get Bruce Wayne to never meet with Vlad again. But it turns out that starting a fight with Damian Wayne was not the best way to get the Wayne's mad at him, and in Damians case especially, it apparently did the opposite.
Or, Danny finds out that sparring with low stakes is really fun, and he maybe gets carried away in more sense than one.

The Crown of Fire and Ring of Rage have long been known as the symbols of the Ghost King's reign. But what most don't realize is that the Crown and Ring aren't just pieces of jewelry to be worn. They have minds and thoughts of their own - and they don't hold back on sharing them, no matter how much it may annoy Pariah Dark! They've somehow grown attached to the ghost boy who dared to challenge him, and they incessantly insist that the whelp isn't getting enough food or sleep for a growing ghost his age.
In an effort to silence their nagging, Pariah decides that something drastic must be done. And as much as he hates to admit it, the boy did show great courage and strength in their battle, qualities that Pariah would hope to see in a potential heir to the throne. Perhaps it was time to kill two birds with one stone, and calm the Crown and Ring's nagging while also settling his court's fears about the future of the Realm if he were ever to be defeated again.
And even he has to admit that the Crown and Ring have a point. The boy had looked awfully skinny.

It was at that point that Danny realized that his ‘do it for the bit’ idea had bitten him in the ass like a reanimated hotdog. He got attached.
tldr; under the premise of 'do it for the bit' Danny had visited Gotham and 'conveniently' ran into Bruce Wayne considering he filled the adoption bait criteria, except slowly but surely through the way Bruce cared about him and even his other kids kept wanting to get to know him, Danny got attached. This is the aftermath of that when Batman finds him in Gotham after a not-so-great reveal to his parents.

To be fair, Danny wanted it to be known that he just wanted some time to indulge in his Space and Protection obsession. How could he have known that while on a class field trip to Gotham he’d gain a father, grandpa, and a clown van full of siblings via accidental forced adoption? Danny just wanted to talk with the people in the Aerospace Division at Wayne Enterprises, his friends are never going to let him live this down.
“Oh dear, oh Gone With the Wind, we’ve lost Danny.” Lancer mutters under his breath as he nervously glances around his class. He can only hope that they are able to find Danny before Jazz finds out. “Class, as you can see Danny is not with the group anymore. Does everyone remember the Flyaway Fenton Protocol? Good.”
It’s at this point the Guide realizes whats going and tried to take point. “There’s a kid missing?! This is terrible! Hopefully he’s still in the building, Gotham is dangerous for the unprepared, I’ll go ahead and ask the front desk to try and have security search the building.” Lancer stares blankly at the Guides back as he beelines out of the hotel and back to WE.
“I fear more for Gotham, the people here are the ones unprepared for a lone Fenton.”
