Summary
Alastor remembered way back when he was alive and a child of twelve at the time when a terrified cat had run into the back door of their home. A fox had been after it, but his mother had banished her broom at the pursuing creature to guard the fleeing one. The fox had turned tail and abandoned its prey, although that still left a puffed up, spitting scared cat crunched in the corner of their pantry.
He recalled seeing a similar look in its eye that he saw now in Charlie's. Blinded by confusion and fright down to its core. Wide eyes a touch glassy and posed against the threats before her, both perceived and real.
Or Charlie was dosed by Valentino's toxin when he licked her arm during her visit to the studio to try to help Angel Dust.
Alastor is the one to find her and take her back to the hotel, but as always things never go as simple as they are meant to be.

“Thanks, mom,” the human rasped with teary eyes, tension shooting up her spine when she realized what she had just said. Brown eyes widening, Luz took off like a rocket, slamming the door to her room in her haste to retreat from her verbal blunder.
Eda’s hand dropped quickly back down to her side. Her heart clenched painfully at the reminder of the shitty hand Luz had been dealt (and, a selfish part of her brain interjected, at the idea that Luz was ashamed she had seen Eda as a mother).
Title derived from the lyrics of "How To Live With Yourself" by PUP.

A flush that has nothing to do with fever heats up her cheeks, solely due to Mike seeing through her so easily, watching her so closely; it’s unnerving, to be known, to be seen. She frowns, coughing, then Mike watches the fight drain out of her in a single exhaling breath.

She shakes her head, her eyes squeezed shut. “S’just—One moment—”
She sags to the ground before he can do anything.
Stuck in the woods, all Steve and Robin can do is wait for rescue... and hope it comes in time.
