She wanted to be the only person in Adora’s hurricane, the only person pulled into the vortex. She was livid when anyone else got close enough to be caught in the wind tunnel.
It took the end of the world to realize she was never in Adora’s vortex, as she had once liked to think of it (all consuming, painful, inescapable). There was never any reason to fight or claw or scream for her place within her storm. She was never caught in the wind, swinging out wildly, hands reaching for her, for golden, darling Adora, who Catra had wanted so badly, she was willing to die out in the gale.
Needless.
Why did it take until now to realize that she wasn’t in the hurricane? She was in the eye. She had always been there."
