Summary
Dean Winchester and his brother Sam moved to the east coast to try their hand at the hustle and bustle of the city. Leaving their precarious and somewhat confusing past behind has been the best decision they ever made - that is, until the local mafia sets their sights on them. In order to protect Sam, Dean allows himself to be recruited into Castiel Krushnic's unconventional mob. There's something strange about the boss, though. Dean can't quite put his finger on it.
That doesn't make him want to punch him in the face any less.
Men are going missing throughout the city, and Castiel swears he'll get to the bottom of it. Dean, blackmailed into loyalty, has no choice but to follow Castiel on the ensuing chaotic journey to save innocent civilians.
For the record, Dean still wants to punch the asshole in the face. But hey, he'll do his best to save the world, first.

Dean, Sam, Castiel, and Jack go on a hunt that lays out some specific choices for Dean and Castiel. The story takes place in early Season 14, after Dean's no longer a vessel but before Jack gets sick. Then it goes AU.

Dean had prided himself on making sure things usually worked out. He was good at hustling, he’d become a master at squeezing just those few extra dollars out of anyone, whether it was a guy at a bar or a customer in a restaurant on one of the few honest jobs he’d ever gotten.
But that wouldn’t do anymore. Sam was starting college in less than two years and Dean had enough student loans to bury a cruise liner in and he hadn’t even finished his degree yet and wouldn’t for some time.

This story is so freaking beautiful and heartbreaking but happy at the end. It's exactly how love really can feel sometimes. It hurts to grow with somebody and to trust them and to change for the better. Gorgeously written. Loved every second!

Dean Winchester’s been camp manager of a science research station on the Alaskan tundra for thirteen years. Dean likes his job; fixing the camp trucks, troubleshooting the generators, keeping clueless undergrads and NSF bigwigs from walking into grizzly bears or getting lost in snowstorms — it’s all in a day’s work. It keeps him pretty busy, and this year his brother Sam's visiting too, so he's even busier. So it’s really not any of Dean’s business when some weirdo antisocial ornithologist sets up a tent a few miles away, a dark-haired blue-eyed guy who’s doing a “very long-term" study on birds or wings or something, and who never, ever takes off his big lumpy backpack. But then the new guy starts dropping by camp for coffee and... well, he’s not officially part of camp; he's not Dean’s responsibility; he’s really not Dean’s problem at all, but when a strange blizzard comes sweeping in, Dean gets worried and goes to check. Summary
Sam, Cas, and Mary are trying and failing to pull Dean out of the stronghold under which Michael has put him.
Cas is keeping an eye on Nick, Lucifer's vessel, who is being kept in a comatose state caused by nephilim grace, as opposed to the vegetative state Raphael's vessel had befallen. Is it possible for Dean to fully recover after being possessed by Michael? Cas has so much he needs to tell Dean, but isn't even sure he will listen... much less, reciprocate.
Jack is exploring his potential while slowly recovering his power. He has the ability to create, but until his grace is at full strength, his creation must be made out of something already existing. Our favorite nephilim has a plan to use his newfound power to snap Dean out of Michael's control, but what will become of Dean after the ejection? And can Team Free Will 2.0 stop Michael before he destroys the world?

Dean Winchester doesn’t answer to anybody about anything. Not about his ever changing hair color or tattoos, not his music, and definitely not about all the fucks he definitely doesn’t give. Of course, then he meets pretentious, skinny jean wearing, ugly sweater buying Castiel Edlund who’s hardest lot in life is probably alphabetizing inventory at his uncle’s record store, and suddenly Dean has to answer for everything.
Castiel, on the other hand, had long since accepted his fate as an anti-social, directionless, and misunderstood soul, with his cat, Meg, and a bottle of whiskey being the only company he needed. But then fate threw him Dean, the abrasive, infuriating punk who wears guyliner, and walks around like the chip on his shoulder is something to be proud of, and Castiel’s carefully constructed life was turned ass over teakettle.
After a heated exchange upon first meeting, a mutual loathing afterwards, and the glaring opposites in their lives, neither of them sees the point of mixing oil and water. Which would be all good and well, except neither of them seems to be able to stay away from the other.

Castiel doesn’t mind working security duty; he was briefed shortly after the initial salvation of the Sword from the pit, and again before taking up his position. He knows what to do. However, it’s easy to forget that the green room isn’t real. Time moves differently there, the space ever-changing to make a prison of mountains, cathedrals, salt flats, orchards, and whatever Castiel was led to believe about Heaven’s greatest weapon—Dean Winchester is something entirely unexpected.

Dean wakes up in bed next to a very human Castiel, and a journal in his own handwriting that tells him it’s two years in the future. The house looks a lot like Bobby’s, and Sam lives there too… He just can’t remember how they got from angels falling in the sky – to comfortable domesticity.
While there is much in the journal Dean doesn’t remember, there is much of their story he’s always known. And as he settles into the routine of his new life and relationship with Castiel, it quickly becomes something he doesn’t know how to live without.

Officially, it's the Novak family's summer vacation home, but for a few days during the summer after graduation, Cas and Dean make it their own, spending their days dozing and swimming and hunting for snipes. The heat is relentless, the mosquitoes even more so, and it's the perfect place for Dean to settle into a niche he never thought he could fit.
