“Midoriya, you were reported missing a week ago. No one has seen you for eight days. The police have been combing the city for you.”
"I’m sorry. What?”
Midoriya Izuku went missing for a week and turned up in a back alleyway with skills he's never even heard of and no memory of how he came by them. He resigns himself to never learning the truth of what happened to him, but he shouldn't waste this chance should he? He could become a hero with reflexes like these.

"You gotta drink first, Babybird. Don't back out now!" He teased anyway, because he wouldn't get out of it that easy. Tim groggily flopped around to look at him, and Dick had to adjust his grip fast to keep the bird from falling and hitting his head on the coffee table. Dumbass.
"Hm?" Tim frowns, like there's some big confusing puzzle in front of him. "No I don't."
Jason rolled his eyes. "Did you even hear what I said?"
"...Yes?" He shrugged, sounding progressively less sure. "The...thing about getting out of graves, right?"
Jason nodded. About a minute too late, he realized that this conversation may not end well.
Replacement shrugged again and turned back into Dick's significantly more tense arms.

Cupping his face and moving it around in a circular motion - he knows it's just to make him laugh instead of checking to find any imperfections like she's pretending it is - she smirks at him before nodding encouragingly and asking, "Rule number 2?"
"Strategy. Pick out your goal, and figure out exactly who and what you need to get there. Do so sparingly and efficiently."
Giving him a kiss on the nose and a warm smile, he allows his eyes to sparkle in a way that he knows only she could ever tell as he keeps the rest of his face emotionless and blank.
"And Rule number 3?"
Finally breaking the facade, he gives her a lopsided smirk as he leans into her hand sweetly, "Manipulation. Do whatever it takes, and be whoever you need to be to get the job done. After all," he pauses to share a smile and so they can say it together,
"Anyone outside me and mine are just obstacles to destroy and pawns to control."

holy shit this was so good???? took me for so many twists and turns youd think i was on a rollercoster. the pacing, the foreshadowing, the suspense, the /mystery/!!!!! i couldnt predict what was gonna happen (which is rare for most horror/mysteries) in the best way possible.
(*/▽＼*)its been a solid while since a books been able to put me on the edge of my seat and *keep* me there, while also having me enjoy my attention being forced on the same thing. i had no idea what i was getting myself into when i clicked on this and i am so goddamn happy that i did. i swear, this book is an actual work of art ♡(˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈ )
