Summary

Intrigued by the request from the woman she had not seen since they last parted ways in such dramatic circumstances, Arlecchino does not expect what awaits her in Furina's apartment. It seems that Fontaine's former star has been hiding a lot from the world.
(Newly mortal Furina discovers she's an omega, and Arlecchino comes across her during her first heat. A rather interesting encounter develops from there.)

xiao doesn’t reply, only listening to the sound of the gentle waves and the passing breeze. venti continues to say, “maybe if i was a star, you wouldn’t have to ever worry about me leaving you behind.” that takes xiao by surprise, and the siren peers up at venti, eyes wide.
how does he know? but xiao stops himself and it dawns upon him that that despite how aloof venti shows himself to be, the mermaid has a habit of picking up on small things, notices things about xiao that even he, himself doesn’t realise. of course venti knows, he’s always been able to read xiao like an open book.
“how would i find you then?” xiao asks instead, quiet.
“easy,” comes venti’s voice, airy and light. “all you have to do is look up and spot the brightest star you see. and there i’ll be, watching over you from all those millions of lightyears away.”
the two of them met a long time ago.

In other words, a hopeless love story of two childhood best friends who didn't realise what it meant to have each other until it was too late; compiled of yearning, loss, forlorn hope, unrequited love, and every tragedy in between.
