Ed has seen hundreds of people fall to the warmth of his mother’s embrace by now—shy teens with newly-purchased flags around their necks like a cape, obviously, but also kinksters and furries and middle-aged lesbian couples and totally unassuming men who are probably at least ten years her senior.
Ed hasn’t seen much of his mom in the last fifteen minutes, though, because he’s been sort of kind of following a random guy through the Gayborhood Market.

Summary
Ed is a wonderful houseguest. He’s quiet, and he’s tidy, and he mostly keeps to himself. He gets up with the birds, leaves half a kettle of freshly boiled water for Stede every morning, and is out of the door before Stede’s even entertained the idea of getting out of bed.
He’s also ridiculously, devastatingly handsome.
And therein, lies Stede's problem.
or: Stede gets reluctantly strong armed into hosting a friend of a friend for a week when their original accomodation falls through. Which would have been fine, uneventful even, if his new houseguest hadn't turned out to be absolutely, one-hundred percent his type.

Ed sometimes wonders about his marriage, though. He’s heard Stede and his wife, Mary, fighting, echoes carried on the wind as he sits in his backyard. And he’s seen Stede give him a look sometimes, and Ed wonders if he’s not completely straight.
But even so. Married. To Mary, who’s pretty cool, actually. And they’ve got kids. Two of them, cute little munchkins, too.
Ed knows all this. He knows it, as well as he knows his name or that his knee hurts a bit first thing in the morning or that the sky is fucking blue. But it doesn’t stop the desire. The yearning.
Worst of all, knowing it doesn’t stop the dreams.

If he’s honest, Zaddy is just the sexy tip of the sexy iceberg. An iceberg shaped like a dick, or like… Ed doesn’t know, what else is sexy… Stede chopping a log with an axe. All sweaty (icebergs are wet) and bulging (icebergs… bulge out of the water) and red (maybe he’s losing the plot, here). All this to say, maybe he was joking at first, but it has become dire straits. He’s choking back words, he’s mumbling and stuttering and tripping over sentences. Stede has yet to say anything about it; maybe he thinks this is just a cute quirk of Ed’s that he had yet to notice.

Disappointed and hurt, Ed decides to visit the café the next morning, only to come face to face with the owner of the place and none other than his vanished lover, whose name turns out to be Stede.
Except there’s one tiny problem; Stede has no recollection of ever meeting Ed at all.
