“Is over, for me.” Ilya said. So matter of factly that Shane jumped a little. He hadn’t been sure of how aware of the situation his boyfriend really was.
“You don’t know that for sure.”
“I do,” Ilya whispered. “Everyone does. I will never play again”
Shane didn’t respond. He wanted to deny it, to say that everything would be okay and that they would play on the ice together again. That Ilya had to get better in time to sign for Ottawa so they could live in the same country, so they could start their hockey camps, so they could be together. But he couldn’t lie. Not to Ilya.

Ilya sustains a career ending injury during a game against Montreal. This takes place before the epilogue after Heated Rivalry.

Harry was trying to pretend Draco’s warm thigh against his own didn’t make his heart thump and his cock start to fill out inside his usual lazy Sunday attire ― which consisted of a t-shirt with a hole in the armpit and the world’s oldest, rattiest, ugliest and most comfortable pair of joggers. In comparison, Draco was wearing a buttoned up shirt and a pair of crisp, black trousers, which made him both seem impressively attractive and also entirely overdressed for this kind of occasion. Harry lifted one knee, trying to shield the view of his slightly tenting joggers, and the state he was rapidly finding himself in.
