But the time he does get is spent in a form no one knows about--not his Rogues, not his friends, not his sister. The only being who knows about his ability to turn into a sleek black cat is the pure white crow he hangs out with. There's something not quite normal about the crow, but Danny's just happy to have some undemanding company.
It's a system that works. He spends some time away from it all as a cat, he fulfills his other duties, and keeps moving.
And then his parents ruin it, and send a wound deeper than any of their inventions could begin to manage.
It's a good thing his crow friend is watching his back.
