There was a growing population of suicides in Caneshead. Adolescent suicides, specifically. They had all traced back to the old baptist church— Reverie Baptist Church. Or, so they said. In the horror that the church would kill their kids, the world around Pastor McNeil has crumbled. The church has lost its workers, the people of the church have left due to its reputation, the kids are dying, the parents are on crime sprees out of the pure anguish of losing their kids, and Caneshead is poisoned by a city of ghosts. As the town sees the moving of its people and rots from the inside out, the pastor is on one mission: be rid of the rumors plaguing the town and the church, interview the only 8 teens who haven't died, and take them on cross country interviews to vouch for him.

So it was such an excruciating thing to fall apart again and again in front of him. At the start, the first time they ever touched in a sexual way, Dan could tell. He knew that Phil saw something else, went some place else.
