Josh Dun signs up to volunteer at the local animal shelter to fill the quiet parts of his life. He doesn't expect to meet Tyler Joseph, the guarded vet tech with a weird thing about leashes being coiled correctly, who glares at everyone like they owe him money.
Tyler didn't need anyone messing up his routine, especially not someone who names every dog after a snack food and talks to them like they're coworkers. But there Josh was, all soft smiles and chaotic kindness, a new hair color every week. He makes the shelter feel like something other than a place where things come to break.
Tyler keeps pushing him away, but Josh keeps showing up. And against his better judgement, Tyler slowly wishes he'd stay.

‘Stop looking’
The tone is commanding and strong, almost like a distorted version of Clancy’s voice. The order of what’s said is also usually the same on repeat like a broken record. He doesn’t want to accept defeat, he has never done it in the past. There have been so many cycles since he left Dema, so many relapses in the past 15 years with this last Clancy… They got so fucking close, for god’s sake.
‘Stop looking’
And the voice keeps erosioning his resolve, the strength to keep his value and duty alive like the fire on his torch.

The sky turned and darkened, a figure he could barely make out was hovering in the air, a cape flowing behind them. Looming blackness reached the ground and started spreading. Peter shot a web and propelled himself up the building, and began to crawl to the very top to get a better view. His heart was pounding in a way that it hadn’t in a long time. This was new. Bad new.
Tendrils squirmed and snaked their ways across the sidewalks and the road. Peter watched as one of them reached a mother and her child. Then suddenly they were gone. A shadow left in their wake.
