“If anyone should stay here, it should be Mike, " Will said, and his voice cracked on that last word, on Mike's name. His eye finally started to moisten and his voice grew thick with tears.
“It is very clear that Henry wants the Wheeler's dead,” Will continued, his tone harsh but shaking, his still glistening.
Will's voice finally lost its control, the shakiness of tears breaking through every word that came next; “I will not allow Mike to go running into a war where the guns are aimed at him!” and his eye finally released those tears onto his cheeks.
“Will-” Mike said softly, taking a step forward.
And then the door opened.

Summary
"Eddie?" Shannon picks up on the fourth ring. "Everything okay?"
"I kissed a man," he says.
The silence on the other end stretches for nine thousand years. Eddie can hear Shannon breathing. He can hear his own heartbeat slamming against his ribs. He stares at the apartment building through his windshield, at the lit window on the fourth floor that might belong to E. Buckley, and waits for his ex-wife to say literally anything at all.
"You what?"
"I kissed a man, Shannon. Just now. I was delivering food and he opened the door and I just— I kissed him. On the mouth. And I don't know why."
Another silence. Then a sound Eddie recognizes with dawning horror as Shannon trying very, very hard to suppress a laugh.
"Shannon."
"I'm processing."
"You're laughing."
"I'm processing." She fails spectacularly. "I'm sorry, I just— you kissed a man? Edmundo Diaz? The same Edmundo Diaz who wouldn't watch Brokeback Mountain with me because it made him 'uncomfortable'?"
"It did make me uncomfortable!"
"Yeah, Eddie, I'm starting to understand why."

Buck cannot bear the possibility of dying leaving any love unspoken. And at the same time, he is struggling to find the courage to say so many things he wants to say. That he needs to say.
So... he writes a number of letters to be delivered should anything happen to him.

Without waiting for a reaction or reply, the man bore down on the gas and peeled down the highway, leaving Buck stranded in the middle of nowhere somewhere along Interstate 10.
And as Buck watched the red brake lights of his Jeep disappear into the distance, clutching his prescription of blood thinners tightly to his chest... there was really only one thing left to do. Tilting his head back until he was staring at the stars, he took a deep breath and screamed into the night:

He basically fled LA to escape the blazing fires and the haunting memories that always come with them. And where did they send him to? The fucking desert. There is no escaping the heat. It’s like Buck is burning from within—not just because he’s sweating buckets, but because he’s hurting.
All his grief and anguish, all his feelings—everything he so carfeully supressed—it’s seething and blazing right beneath the surface. That’s why he had to go. He couldn’t deal with any of it. So he did the next logical thing, what anyone would do in his situation. He asked his former commander to be reactivated from reserve into active duty.
He went back to the SEALs.OR: Buck doesn’t handle Bobby’s death very well. So he leaves the 118 to become an active SEAL again and only Maddie knows about it. But the truth always comes out eventually. How will his family react when they finally find out?
