Summary
Nile is new to Montreal for grad school, but she's fairly hopeless setting up her own wards. She needs help. And for that, she needs to actually find a connection into the local magical community. She's never really been a true part of the community anywhere but her home as a child, so she doesn't understand all that much about it or magic itself, but she's learning.
And if the man she finds to help with her wards also happens to be trying to figure out how to build real roots in the city he's been living in for years, that's something she might be able to help with.

“I was just wondering,” Nicky asks the clerk, “are you sure you don’t have any others of this kind?” His accent is stronger, when he’s nervous—which is anytime he talks to strangers, really—and he winces a little, but the clerk doesn’t seem to notice.
“No, just that one,” the clerk says absently, eyeing the clock over the checkout counter with something that looks like longing. “Feel free to try it out, and if you like it we can order a different size for you.”
And he really wants to try it out, is the thing, because the articles he’s read say you should test a mattress for at least 15 minutes before committing. But there’s already a customer on this bed—a man, effortlessly beautiful in a way Nicky could never dream of being, with the softest black curls Nicky has ever seen, and a beard Nicky wants to feel against the inside of his thighs. And isn’t that an image to have in his head, right as the man opens his eyes to see Nicky standing awkwardly by the side of the bed.________________________________
Or, oh my god, there was only one mattress.

“My heart,” Yusuf whispers, kissing Nicolò’s cheek and then his lips. He tastes the cold wind in them, and he wonders if Nicolò can taste the sourness of the wine in his. “You had me worried.”
Nicolò’s eyes soften, and he kisses Yusuf back with intent, before hoovering over his shoulder to inspect the stew. There’s a pained look on his face and Yusuf knows he’s feeling guilty.
“It’s no matter,” Yusuf says sincerely. “It’s not often I get to make you Christmas dinner.”
In the year of Our Lord 1608, Christmas fell during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Or, while Yusuf contemplates the loss of his sister and of his own faith, Nicolò brings home some hope.

Summary
The sad man doesn’t always need flowers for the dead, thankfully. Sometimes he says it’s a gift for a woman or a kid. He always talks about the flowers’ recipients as if he is reading from a report, his tone almost detached, but Joe can distinguish the lines of emotion here and there, like delicate little blooms growing between wild bushes.
“Widower, late sixties. Loves tea and detective novels. No children or pets.”
Chrysanthemums, gladiolus, and forget-me-nots.
“Teenage boy. No siblings but many cousins. Likes football and a German rock band.”
Daisies, columbines, and snapdragons.
Sometimes the sad man doesn’t show up for a couple of months, and Joe begins to wonder if perhaps he has imagined him after all.
Joe owns a flower shop where he makes the most beautiful bouquets and arrangements. He takes real pride in his work.
Unfortunately, he cannot say the same about his non-existent romantic life. Joe wonders if that’s the reason why he has been paying too much attention to his new client, a beautiful man with big eyes and a sad face.

Henry thought this morning would be like any other, days that have gone by and have made him twenty weeks. But today is different. And very worrying.
Alex is burning up, his forehead hot and uncomfortable to touch.
Henry wipes the sweat away from his fringe.
“Alex. . .” Henry mutters, nerves fraying at the seams. “Tell me how you feel-“
Alex opens his eyes a little bit before closing them again. He rolls away from Henry’s touch and curls up even tighter beneath their duvet.
“I’m fine,” Alex’s teeth chatters.
“No,” Henry shakes his head. He lays the back of his hand on Alex’s forehead again, the palm of it going next to his neck. “You are sick and you are shivering in cold sweat-“
“I just need a glass of water-“
“You need a whole day of rest,” Henry stressed out.

The premise of Married at First Sight is simple: get matched to a complete stranger by a group of relationship experts and meet your future spouse on your wedding day. So far, this 'scientific' experiment has only been limited to the straights, but for the upcoming season of Married at First Sight UK, things are going to be different: it will be a queer-only season.
Joe applies because of a bet, Nicky applies because his friends bully him into it. Both of them are sure they won't be going any further than the application process, except... they do. But that's fine. They'll just meet at the ceremony, get married, try not to murder each other for the mandatory six weeks, and then they will get divorced and go their own, very separate ways.
Or will they?

There's a man standing in front of his table, a sheepish cant to his shoulders. His lovely, blonde-brown hair looks in need of a haircut since it's growing out somewhat unevenly, presently just long enough to hang partially in his eyes. His eyes are the most intriguing shade between clear blue and crisp green. He has a beauty mark near his mouth, a definitely Roman-looking nose, and enough scruff on his chin that Joe's not sure if he's trying to grow out his beard or just hasn't bothered to shave.
He's fucking gorgeous, is what Joe is trying to say.
(The past year hasn't been kind to Joe or Nicky. But a chance meeting at a local market sets them both on a path they weren't expecting. A path filled with love, magic and maybe, just maybe, some peace.)
