I came for the Zevran smut, I stayed for the character development. Which isn't to say the smut is bad - it's hot, visceral, believable and includes lots of character moments, just how I like it. Oh, and it's Dom/sub, and what a delicious Dom Zevran makes.
(Plus there's an threesome with Isabela)
I like how the author involved the rest of the gang besides Zev and told something of their struggles, and also how Elena herself and her relationships with the others developed.
Stories like this never get old for me, even after several playthroughs and tons of fanfiction. -

Loved by a lot of people who don't normally like modern AUs, like me. Don't let the setting deter you.
If you like fluff, read it. Seriously, it's adorable, hilarious and believable. It's riddled with wonderfully warm, loving scenes, and not only in the romance. Hawke has an amazing family and crew of friends.
I've read this twice and will again. It's among the best fanfics I've ever read, I'm not kidding. I mean, look at the amount of bookmarks. -
