“Luca,” he swallows.
Fuck. Maybe it’s just the heat radiating from Luca’s body, but Shane is starting to get a little hot under the collar as well. It doesn’t help when Luca tucks his head into his neck and whines softly at Shane calling for him.
“Haasy,” Shane tries again. “Have you had your first heat yet?”
For a moment, Luca’s hold tightens. The word heat was scary; foreign to someone as young as Luca. He’d only just turned twenty-one, he should have another year or so before his body ripens.
He surely looks ripe now, though. He suddenly pushes away from Shane’s chest and stares at him with wild, panicked eyes.
“No way,” his voice trembles. “I still have… I’m not—“
And; Luca's heat triggers Shane's, good thing Alpha Ilya is there to take care of them both!

We are thrilled to announce that the game will be attended by First Son Alexander Claremont-Diaz and his fiancé, Henry Fox, who will be holding the American and Canadian flags respectively during the national anthems. We are honored that they have agreed to join us for our Pride Night festivities and we can't wait to see you all at the game tonight.'"

10/10. no notes, this is perfect and so good it could've also been a novel.
it's very bittersweet and I kinda had a feeling of dread throughout, but there is a perfect HEA especially when taking into account how it started (shanes forced outing) and how finally pretty much everything is on their terms (ilya coming out to his friends, together coming out to the team, winning the cup, deciding for themselve what privacy vs. secrecy means and having a plan in place -aka marriage - to keep them safe). there's also amazing descriptions of hockey scenes which are extensive and only add to the world building. only thing I missed were the centaurs but shane coming to the bears makes sense in this canon divergence, so that's not a criticism

The Centaurs keep moving, some towards the bench to take a drink, Wyatt Hayes in the back moving around to stay warm. The video catches one player, Luca Haas, standing stock still. He is clutching his stick at his side and stares off in the distance, expression blank, seemingly not noticing the ice crewmember having to sharply pivot to not crash into him. “Oh my god,” the person filming says, laughter in their voice, “What is he doing?
