zugzwang: in chess, the obligation to move, when any move at all will be bad
"A game of chess, Detective. I assume you know how to play. You win, and you and your family may leave freely. I win, and you take your place as my heir and I dispose of the others as I see fit."
Tim stopped breathing.
Ra's spread his hands, still smiling that condescending crocodile grin. "Our skills are evenly matched. The challenge is more than fair."
All a game, just win. All a game, just win. Just win, just win, win, win...
Keep your head.

Or kill him.
He didn't want to die. Not now and especially not at the hands of the people he trusted the most in the world.
OR
Robin wakes up at Mount Justice, alone, injured and confused, being hunted down by his friends and his father, whose sole goal seems to be to mercilessly torture him and kill him.[TITLE CHANGE FROM FOES TO ENEMIES]

“You sound nervous, Viktor. Is something –” Then he caught sight of the small hand clutching the side of Viktor’s vest. Jayce’s words stuck in his throat as a face peeped out from behind the scientist, a young girl with startlingly blue hair looking up at him with fear. “Um – who’s this?”
. . . years later . . .
“Just this once,” Jinx whispered, “Can’t I prove that I can help my family instead of watching them die?"
On the night Jinx loses her family, Viktor finds her and takes her in as his apprentice on the Hextech team. But when he falls ill, the lengths she’ll go to save him might just drive her mad…

Summary
Marinette traced her fingers down the smooth lines of the magazine, a blush creeping to her face. It wasn’t just his toned, muscular body that set her aflame, although that was certainly a bonus. It was his eyes. The way his body appeared, languid like a summers day. His body said relax but his eyes said devour. From the pages of the advertisement, Adrien smouldered in a way that he’d never done during any of his other numerous photographs, and yet she was struck with a familiarity that made her skin tingle, made her swallow with sudden and surprising nervousness. She was sure she’d seen that expression somewhere before. A pair of green eyes looking at her like that, with an unknown question in his hungry gaze. She’d seen that smoulder before.
In which Adrien loses a bet and becomes an underwear model, Marinette loses her mind, and the whole fiasco starts a fire which might lead to the pair discovering their identities.

“Darling, wake up.”
You groan and squeeze your eyes shut, clumsy fingers grabbing at your blanket to pull the fuzzy thing over your eyes. The blankets smell good today. You’ve always used the same detergent, and it’s never failed you. Your brain is protesting, but your mouth hasn’t quite caught up yet, so all you do is mumble into your blanket, your mumbling roughly translating to “Five more minutes, please?”
You're happy. You're content. You're married to the best man in the world, John Smith. You wouldn't want anything else, right? Right?

*Previously titled "A Beautiful Lie"
. . .
. . .Head Down. Mouth shut. Quiet. Survive.
Peter knows the drill. Richard Parker has been carving it into him for years now. Follow. Repeat. Do as you're told. But things get complicated after Germany, after Tony Stark. And suddenly the line starts getting blurry.
Meanwhile, with the Avengers scattered and the Accords in pieces, Tony's a mess who's ready to crash and burn. Enter Spider-Kid, complete with bruises, excuses and a deep, dark secret that stretches far further than Tony first thought.
Disjointed, dysfunctional, disastrous.
Nothing can seem to describe the sheer catastrophe in waiting that lurks closer every second they spend together. Tony's depressed. Peter's afraid. They're both wrecks apart. Imagine the chaos that would come by putting them together.
Still, who better to help a hero than another hero?
