Draco shifts his head as he turns to look at Scorpius, his cheek touching the pillow. "Did you know that…" He pauses, his throat convulsing, and it sounds audible in the silence, besides Michael's steady, even breathing from the other bedroom.
Scorpius is staring back at him, in wait of something new to learn, a beautiful and intelligent child. He has Draco's mind. He has Draco's eyes and nose and mouth and hair. He is his. All his. All he has of Michael are his wild curls and the green of his eyes, and sometimes he looks into them and imagines that they aren't Michael's, but someone else's.
Draco leans his head closer, biting the quiver out of his lips before he breathes a laden and shuddering exhale, and he whispers, "You are my star in a big black sky."

I wrote this story a couple of years ago because it was autumn, and I baked a tray of pumpkin muffins. I love Merlin as an eccentric baker who woos Arthur with good food. There is nothing complicated here: just a little bit of flour on cheekbones, free fudge squares, and a happy ending.

Arthur Pendragon has been, for the most part, raised by his father’s butler and cook. His sister got away from home and company as soon as she was old enough to do so, but Arthur is stuck in his role as Jr. CEO at Pendragon Industries, in the closet, and miserable. His life consists of his plants, his neighbor’s fish, and his Harry Potter DVDs. When he decides to be adventurous and take on a flat-mate, he hopes it might put a little spice into his life. Merlin Emrys has ADHD and is being thrown out of his flat because he can’t remember to pay his rent or lock the door. He’s openly gay, his f-buddy, Mordred, is a little bizarre, and Merlin’s ADHD meds are about to give him sleep problems. He can’t believe that the boss’s son and future CEO of the company is offering him a room in a gorgeous penthouse flat for next to nothing. People at work are either scared of Arthur Pendragon or think he’s odd, but Merlin just thinks he’s hot and a little endearing. Cue karaoke, posing in the nude, Neil Diamond, sleep-walking, dirty dancing, sex toy stores, and mid-night confessions. And, just maybe, love!- Language:

Merlin thinks he has it made as the personal assistant and part-time lover of the gorgeous Morgana Lefay. Then Arthur enters their lives and Merlin’s certainty about what he really wants begins to erode. (eventual Merlin/Arthur)
