There's something like an ongoing plot, but each character arc stands alone, so you can pick and choose the characters you like, or read straight through, whatever floats your boat. If you're skipping around, read the interludes related to the chapters you do read, because plot.

Everything is consensual, usually enthusiastically so, though sometimes they're figuring it out as they go, and it takes a little work. Forgiveness is a journey, or so Tony was maybe told a long time ago. He doesn't know about any of that and doesn't particularly care to. In the wake of civil war, the Avengers remain, as do their enemies. And Tony Stark rebuilds, as always.
He destroys the phone, he burns the letter. But he can't (he won't) eliminate Steve Rogers from his mind.

Summary
Age of Ultron-based, but not entirely canon compliant. Written for the 2013 Cap-Iron Man Reverse Big Bang. Ultron has attacked, obliterating most of the world's superheroes and resistance in a matter of hours. The remaining heroes band together and share what strength they have to get through it, to survive, and defeat Ultron once and for all. Steve Rogers grieves in the wake of the disaster and the heroes' defeat, and no one knows if he will be able to provide the leadership they need--but Tony Stark isn't about to let him slip away that easily.
