Harry lunged for the photo, his bloodied nose dripping crimson onto the paper as he scrambled for something to write with. But Vernon had locked away all of Harry’s things to prevent him from contacting anyone. In desperation, Harry smeared his blood across the photo with trembling fingers, scrawling three words:
Please help me.
He signed it with a shaky, almost illegible ‘Harry’ before stumbling to Hedwig’s cage. He flung the door open and shoved the photo into her talons, his breath coming in sharp, uneven gasps. Vernon’s angry bellows grew louder as he forced the door open, splinters of wood flying into the room.
“T-take it to Professor Snape!” Harry rasped, barely able to speak through the panic and exhaustion.
Hedwig let out a distressed hoot as Harry squeezed her through the narrow bars of the window. He turned just as Vernon burst into the room, his face purple with fury, his breathing ragged.

Summary
In the grand scheme of things, one single person isn't much. They are a grain of sand in the vast desert, and they are lost without a trace, only to be briefly rediscovered when one looks at their family tree, or finds their gravestone hidden beneath the dirt and grass that cover it.
But, for some unlucky people, the world seems to focus on their single grain, and gives them every bit of pain and suffering that it can.
And for Harry Hartford, formerly known as Harry Potter, he is that grain of sand.
But god, how he wished he wasn't.
A retelling of the Harry Potter story which, while it generally hits the same story beats, falls off the wagon rather quickly. Where Harry grows up knowing he is loved, and he finds a new set of friends, and yet, at the same time, quickly learns that the world has it out for him for circumstances outside of his control.
And because of that, he must find a way to survive without completely losing himself in the process.

Wrong G/BWL Au, Harrison time travels to the past to grow up with the founders only to go back to the future a month before his first day at hogwarts. He decided that the dark side shares more of his ideas than the light side does and eventually even finds love in the man his sister is trying to destroy.

The only way Harry can get free of those who wish to use him is to agree to an already made betrothal contract created by Dorea Black-Potter. Will this simple thing change the course of Harry's predestined - at least by Dumbledore - future? Will he remain neutral or will he turn dark after he learns everything Dumbledore's done? Will there be a wedding in future for Rabastan and Harry? Can they have a chance of happiness or will the two Slytherins by nature at least, only presume to use one another? Children’s hair sometimes changes color as you grow. When he’s young enough for it not to be unusual, but old enough to know he’ll get in trouble for doing something ‘freakish’ again, Harry's hair goes from his father's dark locks to his mother's bright, most-likely-magical red hair.
It changes everything about who he identifies with, who he wants to grow up to be, and who he thinks he is. Instead of having James Potter as his idol, Lily turns out to be a much better influence.
So instead of seeing a scruffy, most-likely-muggleborn boy standing beside him in Madam Malkin's before their first year, Draco only has eyes for the scarlet-haired, green-eyed creature who just walked into his life.
