Summary
After their conversation in the rain, Light decided he wouldn't kill L yet, not until he was fully convinced that Light was cleared of any and all guilt, finally barring Light from any future suspicion. Only then would he kill L and continue on to create his perfect world unhindered. In order to achieve this, however, he had to kill an inmate he didn't know the name, face, or location of, and with no death note. He simply had to lose his memories again, relying on Rem, the shinigami who disliked him greatly, and Misa, an impulsive airhead. But they hadn't failed him last time, and now he just had to not fail himself.

L had seen Light seemingly change his demeanour repeatedly throughout their time knowing of one another, from his cagey, carefully crafted responses, to his passionate outbursts. It was almost like a switch was being flipped back and forth, and at the moment, as L awaited the results of his 13 day rule experiment, Light is back to being wide-eyed and 'innocent.' Only this time, there is something else there that L can't quite yet identify. He knows Light has a plan, and L has to figure it out and prove once and for all that Light is Kira. ... Right?

Summary
Light sat at the kitchen's bar counter, still steaming coffee clasp between chilled fingers. Another coffee mug, heaped with sugar as opposed to his own black, sat across from him cooling. L was most often the first one awake, and therefore he was the one to make the coffee. That wasn’t the case today. Light knew L hated to be woken up, but Light wasn’t sure how much longer he ought to let L sleep before checking on him.

“I thought being handcuffed together, I’d see you eat something other than sweets.” Light pulled Ryuzaki along as he made his way over to the cabinets, rummaging about and pulling down ingredients. “Just out of curiosity, have you ever even eaten a vegetable?”
“I find carrot cake to be quite nice,” Ryuzaki replied, his brand of dry humour making Light crack a small smile. Ryuzaki stared at him, expression seemingly blank, and although Light was unable to determine what exactly he was thinking, he could wager a highly likely estimation; Still, as always, trying to decide whether or not he was Kira.
