    It should've been simple. All he had to do was keep the Avengers together, save the world, and not fall in love with Tony in the process. Instead, one change after another sends events spiraling off in a new and unpredictable direction. Now, the future he remembers is gone, and his meddling might just cost Tony the very thing he came back to protect.

Why me?” Why not someone else, why not Steve fucking Rogers, the man with the plan, why not Rhodey, why not Pepper, why him?

    “Because you’re a scientist. A futurist. We chose you, Stark. But you have to accept.”

    Tony didn’t want to.

    “You’re going to regret it,” Tony said quietly. The beeping of the monitors had slowed, the panic had faded away leaving only a quiet exhaustion.

    “I don’t think so.” And Strange sounded so sure.

    Tony closed his eyes. He wanted to say no, wanted to let go of the weight of the world that had already crushed him. But he couldn’t do that. Couldn’t do that when Strange had used his last chance to save the world, banking on him. “Alright.” He swallowed hard, forcing himself to nod. “Okay. Send me back.”

    Things gets turned upside down after Civil War and the whole team feels betrayed by one another. Natasha leaves after the balcony scene, angry that Tony questioned her loyalty because they've kind of had a secret relationship going on (it's complicated), but Tony never stops looking for her and tracks her down to the Russian prison in the Black Widow movie whilst she's in the middle of reuniting with her family.

    Basically just me rewriting the Black Widow movie to include Tony somehow and making a long, drawn out love story.
    Sometimes explicit because why not? It's fanfiction.

Steve gets up to all kinds of shit with the Pym particles these days – something about time travel having inter-dimensional consequences. And since Steve exchanged Grant for Responsibility sometime between lying on army enlistment forms and crashing a plane into the Arctic, he’s running around under the careful watch of Hank Pym and Stephen Strange, doing things Bucky takes care not to ask about.

    But the Steve Rogers that pops into existence on Bucky’s patio is not the right Steve Rogers.

    He’s dressed all in black, for one thing.

    He’s got a metal arm, for another.

    Peter Parker has been living in his own personal Hell for his whole life. He was born in a prison cell and experimented on by his own father like a lab rat until he was 3. That’s when they decided to kill both his parents.

    After that, Hydra gave him to the Red Room, to make the perfect Assassin, a better spy than even The Black Widow.

    At age 15 though, something happens that changes Peter’s life forever. He retaliates against his superiors and makes a break for America, where he can hopefully hide out and live the rest of his life in peace.

    With his luck though, that’s never gonna happen...
