They didn’t open up about their personal experiences with their parents. Ozai was awful, that was a given. It took a little while for him to understand that just because Azula could easily cover the most visible scar he gave her, it didn’t mean he was a better parent. It was tough to try to understand that as awful as he was, something in him made her see him as a better parent than Mother.
It irked him, it bothered him, he didn’t why, she wouldn’t just tell him.
or: the one in which Zuko is a better brother, Ursa is a worse mother, and Azula is just trying to not freak out all the time.

“No.” Azula’s answer came colored in disgust and indignation.
“I see, and are you aware that spending prolonged periods of time without utilizing your bending can be damaging?”
“Yes, well so can watching half of your brother’s face being burnt off.”
Watching her brother's Agni Kai broke something in Azula. Completely disillusioned to the idea of being the golden child, Azula goes on strike and refuses to use her bending at all. Ozai ships her to Master Piandao to train her in blades while waiting for her rebellion to burn out. Unfortunately for him and Master Pi, Azula has no intention of bending-her wit and will are as strong and sharp as any blade.

It's kind of a character study of what they would be like if it was them against the world, with assistance from Iroh and Lu Ten, as much as they are able. He had golden eyes that bore into Sokkas soul, he had piercings scattered along his face, a septum, angle fangs, and an eyebrow piercing. Sokka couldn't be gay could he?

Azula galloped across the garden with glee, in hot pursuit of her brother Zuzu. "Even a cranky old Cow Hippo could catch up with you slowpoke!" She playfully commented, smirking as she witnessed Zuko's stamina slowly deteriorate whilst continuing chasing after him.
"Hey that's- hold on...let me just catch...my breath-...Phew! It's not fair you have more energy! Father kept nagging me yesterday on how firebenders should rise with the sun...so I didn't get as much sleep as I usually do ok!" Zuko heaved greatly between words, gasping for air, though his pouty tone was still incredibly noticeable.
"Stop finding excuses Zuzu and just admit you lost this round of tag! Look at you! Your body looks practically desperate for a break! The sweat you're producing has a very distinct smell you know. Plus you just stopped dead in your tracks." She smugly countered.
With a sharp exhale, he storms off, his footsteps hammering against the ground like a war drum.

The young heir, alongside the Water Tribe and Earth Kingdom rulers, managed an agreement of peace but not without obstacles. After the war, the young princess Azula suffered the most from the loss, dancing between insanity and death. She spent 2 years in recovery and is struggling to adapt, desperately trying to put the past behind her. With the support of her brother and Uncle, she makes the best effort to recover while still going through highs and lows and proving to the world that she is a different person. Learning to grow as a new Vizer for her brother, she finally forms better relationships both new and old.
