It’s 1997.
Pine Ridge, Colorado was never a town known for anything fun or revolutionary. It simply existed on the frigid outskirts of the Rockies, just to the northwest. Maybe a few old-heads will settle for the quiet life, some nerds will stop by the old lumber sawmills, or a family will drive through during a road trip and settle in the cozy motel outside of town.
After one night, they leave in a hurry, not bothering to thank their hosts or bid farewell to the brief friends made.
The humble Butlers heard the tales of the occult, of the rumors floating through the forest like the fog in the autumn. But that's just what they were. Tales. The elderly recalled old myths like they did the second World War, and little kids spread crude and exaggerated chronicles, straight from their imagination.
It wasn't like no one felt bugs beneath their skin when walking by those old woods.
Surely, they were just some old fairy-tales to keep the little kids out of the woods. After all, those old mine-shafts weren’t boarded up.
Any body could fall into the ground, the floor of the thick woods, never to be seen again.
She went missing on Christmas Eve of 1996.
