The question catches him off guard– maybe because this is something Light should be easily able to answer for himself. L tries in a vain attempt to piece together what game Light is playing at but feels unsuccessful in his thought-pattern.
“I’m not sure you’ve given me a reason to trust you, Light.” L shoves his hands into his jean pockets, hunching over more as he does so.
