She emerged as a mostly normal looking wriggler with twinkling eyes and tiny little horns nestled in the nest of black hair that rested on her head. What was abnormal, though, was the bright red of her plump little body which had six stubby dark legs accompanying either side. The young wriggler had no idea what she was nor did she ever imagine that one day, she would be among one of the most hated groups of trolls on the planet.
This is the story of Afliza's life as a mutant-blooded troll in a society that still punishes those who are different.

Your eyes meet, and you are both frozen. His eyes look so white, void of any colour, and his brows are thick and black. His mouth hangs open as he nearly chokes for air, and you can catch a glimpse of a row of sharpened teeth. You gape at the sight. You've never seen a troll before, and you had hoped you never would. A few of the older people at camp talked about them, and your father used to tell you stories when you were a child about the viscous grey creatures that brought an end to global civilization in your great, great grandparents time, and would hunt and kill any human they would catch outside the safety of their camp.
You stare at the troll before you, and can't find your breath. He isn't moving either, he just looks at you with big, wide eyes.
2021 UPDATE: going to do a rewrite, then probs delete this because it went down a route im lowkey uncomfortable with nowadays (but i do still enjoy the premise so...)

You should probably do the grub a favor and kill it. It’s so pathetic and tiny, and its color is so clearly mutated. It won’t ever have a lusus. It’ll definitely die young. It’ll make a good snack. No one will ever know or miss him. As far as anyone else knows, he won’t have ever existed. So you lift the grub to your mouth and bare your fangs.
You picture the troll he could turn into and find yourself unable to bite down. The grub squeals and plays with your finger.
“You are an insufferable nuisance,” you inform the grub. It continues to play with your thumb and continues not being killed by you.

Ah yes. Infinity. Both possible and impossible to comprehend. Where do I even begin? The implications of infinity, especially mixed with the fact that there are, indeed, alternative universes are impossible to comprehend and quite frankly, could drive someone insane if they thought about it for too long.

While the culling system on Beforus can be seen as a practical and beneficial system to copy into the blooming society of “Earth C” (as it is currently called), it could, and most likely will, have disastrous effects on the society as a whole, with lingering effects for centuries should it (for whatever reason) be removed. The system is full of flaws and horrendously outdated beliefs, and has a notorious record of causing internal and external prejudice, as well as being choked full to the brim of practices that, even on Alternia, in all it’s malevolent, casteist views, declared as levels of abuse that crossed the lines of even kismesissitude.
