“I didn't like seeing them flirt with you…” It might be a bit too honest, veer a bit too close to revealing the truth, but he doesn't care anymore. He's gonna have to shoot his shot eventually, right?
Except Keith doesn't seem to be thinking that way at all. “You've gotta be kidding me. We've barely been here a day Lance, and you're already getting territorial over someone giving you attention?"
“What?” It hadn't even occurred to Lance that Keith might have interpreted the situation like that. “No, that's not- I just thought-”
“Well you thought wrong! Did it ever occur to you that maybe not everything has to revolve around you? That maybe I liked being flirted with and feeling like someone actually wanted me around for once?”
“I want you around!” Lance defends, his voice cracking.

The last thing Lance McClain wants is to get into a jaeger Conn-Pod again. Yeah, once upon a time, when he was eighteen and full of himself, Lance basked in the glory of being a Pan Pacific Defense Corps Ranger, pilot of the jaeger, Blue, a defender of Earth’s Pacific coasts from enormous kaijus, cryptid beasts, half-machine, half-animal, twisted by foul alchemical and sent through the Breach by Emperor Zarkon’s witch, Haggar.
At twenty-three, that Lance has been supplanted by a man who shuns the limelight, wandering from job-to-job along the Pacific coast under an assumed name. Thanks to a worldwide pandemic that has wiped out most Drift-receptive people, and the failure of Earth’s newest defense, seawalls, Lance is unwillingly recruited back into service.

He doesn’t want to make it awkward, doesn't want to turn it into a thing by bringing it up and ruining the mood. But as good as Keith has always felt about winging things, this is something he doesn’t want to push through and hope that it all works out fine in the end.
Keith wants it to be good, wants to know it’s good, and not just for his own sake. He doesn’t want to find himself in a situation where something he wasn’t expecting happens, and, having no idea what to do about it, end up feeling like he has to pretend he has a handle on it.
Keith wants to be nervous if he’s feeling nervous.
He’s spent far too long wanting this and waiting for it to have it end up making him feel bad because he’s being stubborn and stupid about pushing through, only because he feels like he has to be the best there is on the first try.
So he wants to talk to Shiro about it.

"Fine! Dare!" They yelled, startling the other students in the library. They smiled sheepishly before turning back to Lance.
"I dare you to walk the length of the roof of the library." The maniacal smile disappeared from his face as if it had never been there in the first place.
"No fucking way! Do you know how much trouble I could get into for that? Why would you even ask me to do something like that?" Lance stared back at them in confusion before a smile suddenly morphed on their face. They stood up, walking calmly toward a balcony that was attached to the library before hurling themself down the three stories to the ground.

Lance and his friends decide to Party it up in el magnífico país de México. There's booze, girls, and fun. Everything they could want for their spring break. Things don't go the way they would have hoped though as this simple party turns into a nightmare. They must do whatever it takes to win. This was supposed to be a routine diplomatic mission. Instead, Keith got some sort of alien potion thrown in his face and now he's in danger of freezing to death. The aliens who did it insist that they were trying to help, but their "help" backfired. Everything is insanely cold, all the time- except Pidge and Lance. Nothing and nobody else can warm Keith's frozen insides. Which is unfortunate, because Lance and Pidge are dating and Keith feels like he's a nuisance to them. Then he realizes he's falling for them... okay, this just got even worse.

Summary
In the decade since Allura's sacrifice, Shiro'd fallen in love, gotten married, retired, had issues, sought therapy, separated, filed for divorce and moved on. Filed for divorce but never finalized it. He and Curtis got along fine. He stayed in the house, Curtis lived on base. It worked until it didn't. There was no rush to sign anything. In order to finalize the divorce, they had to sell the house. Shiro found a new house. No problem. Except, he has to be out of the old house 2 weeks before he can move into the new one.
Veronica and Keith had the same idea- He could use a bit of sun. Lance would love the company- which was how Shiro ended up in Cuba. He was looking forward to the first real vacation he'd had in years! He'd heard so much about Lance's beach house and it would be great to hang out with his old friend & catch up on everything that he'd been up to in the last few years.
The years in Cuba had been very good to Lance and the skinny kid he'd gone to space with was a full-grown, very impressive man, now. Time and distance gave him a new perspective and he started to understand just how well matched he and Lance might be. Was it too much to hope that Lance might be seeing him with fresh eyes, too?
