"Hey, Ed!" Winry called from where she was sprawled on his couch. "Remember that night we went drinking? And I bet you that you couldn't pull off drag?"
Ed popped his head out from the bathroom door, mouth full of foam and toothbrush shoved between his teeth. "About as well as I do anytime you challenging me to a drinking contest. Why?"
"Well, I kind of... maybe sent that picture in to The Bachelorette?" Winry leaned her head back until she was looking at Ed upside-down from the couch arm. "Along with an application."
Ed blinked sleepy eyes at her before turning to splash water on his face in hopes of possibly cleaning off sleep gunk and waking himself up a little.
"And they may have accepted your application and want you to possibly star on the next season," Winry continued, waiting for an explosion of some sort.
Ed gave her an unimpressed look from where his face was buried in a towel. "So tell them it was a prank and I'm a guy."
"Yeah~… you see..." Winry righted to herself to read her email. "I did that... but apparently they don't really care."
"Wait, what?" Al finally looked up from his book. He was followed quickly by a cry of— "Wait, what the hell?!"

Summary
It’s just how things have shaken out. He’s entirely a researcher now that he’s alchemy free and lacks any actual military training. It’s not like they need to stuff him into a bullpen or massive office where he has to suffer through stupid military regulation, mandatory firearm training, and fervent ass kissing. He likes the quiet of a personal office and the ability to do his work somewhere else whenever he feels like it.
The only issue is that when someone puts a cactus on your desk before you clock in, there isn’t anyone around to have witnessed it. Or: Ed experiences the hell that is having a secret admirer, except that is absolutely not what is happening here at all. Obviously. Royed week day 3: Flower Language

Summary
Wrong Turn 'verse grew out of my kinkmeme action/comedy/UST-fest fic, Wrong Turn. I wrote a post-manga sequel to it, No Small Injury. NSI was plotted out in 2009, around the release of Chapter 98 of the manga. Some aspects of its post-manga plot inevitably got jossed. After finishing NSI, I worked out exactly where my 'verse diverged from canon events, and hammered Wrong Turn 'verse into a logical canon divergence 'verse. Much can be summed up as: "What if Olivia Armstrong hadn't survived the Promised Day?" Some of the ending AU is explored in stories, particularly the chapterfics and Curtain Call.

“I’m sorry I kept you guys up so late.”
She was still beautiful, sitting up in the bed and wearing a most unflattering hospital gown. She smiled warmly at him and beckoned him over.
“You hardly did it on purpose,” Ed said, taking a seat in a chair by the bed. “How are you feeling?”
“Tired,” she said with a defeated smile. “And how about you?”
Ed shrugged. “I’m okay.”
Her smile faded into a serious, sorrowful expression. “I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you,” she started. “I just didn’t want you to--”
“I know. I know why you didn’t tell us. I understand.”
Trisha smiled again and changed the subject. “Did you call your guy?”
“I did.”
“And?”
“And… I don’t know yet. But I think, maybe, we’re going to try and make it work.”
Trisha beamed. “I’m glad to hear that. The man who came to the house...”
“My gym teacher,” Ed said bluntly.
Trisha cocked her head to the side as if she didn’t hear him correctly. “Your… gym teacher?”
Ed nodded.
“Your… boyfriend… is also a … teacher?” she asked.
Ed bit his lip. “He’s not a teacher.”
Trisha watched him, waiting for clarification.
Ed sighed. There really was no easy way around it. “He’s… well, he was… my… principal.”
He saw her eyes widen slightly before looking away.
“Oh. Oh my. Well…” she started slowly. “As I told you earlier, you must… you must really mean a lot to him that he was willing to risk his career to be with you. What’s his name?”
“Roy.”
“Roy,” she mused. “I would have liked...” she paused, rethinking her words. “Make sure he takes good care of you. And you take care of him as well.”
Unaware that he was even crying until he felt tears fall down his cheeks, Ed leaned forward and rested his head on her lap, his face turned toward her feet. He gasped in fits, choking back his sobs as much as possible, and hating the unfairness of it all. Was this all some sort of grand master plan fate had to make him forgive her sooner? Well, if so, he decided to never forgive her at all. That way, she would have to live until he did… right?
He closed his eyes as she ran her fingers through his hair.
“This is going to sound quite silly,” she said. “I've wanted to brush your hair ever since you’ve been here.”
“I’ll bring you a brush tomorrow,” he muttered into her thigh.
___Trisha leaned back against her pillow and cried.
He hadn’t said the words, but she felt them all the same.
It was all that she had wanted since the day she gave him away.
Her frail body, which had clung to life much longer than intended, could finally rest.
An hour later, she suffered a series of massive seizures and died.

Roy became a grandfather at fifty-six. The baby’s name was May Rose, an anagram in honor of her mother’s two fathers. He cried the first time he held her.And so on. Day after day. Month after month. Year after year.
They did not live happily ever after. But they lived, as long as time allowed them and as happily as they could.
