Summary
The cops went over to Sunny’s home next. They didn’t permit anyone to follow them, but they all did anyway. Sunny was declared DOA—just like Basil had been. The cause of death for both of them was the same: blood loss from self-inflicted wounds.
...
Hero jolted awake, a strange feeling overtaking him. He wondered what time it was. He shifted, about to sit up, and it was then that he realized he was lying on the floor. He sat up, confused, and looked around.
It did not help. In fact, it made it worse. So, so much worse.
He was sitting on the floor of Basil’s living room. Aubrey was sleeping on the couch behind him. Kel and Sunny were asleep on either side of him.
What the hell?
Or, Hero gets stuck in a time loop, right before Basil and Sunny both end their own lives.

Summary
Kel missed his old friend group.
When Sunny is meant to be moving away the very next day, Kel goes to his house to check on him. He just wants to make sure he's alright in there.
What he sees he will never forget. Someone that had once been his friend is now lying there in his bed, covered in his own blood. There is a note left on the hardwood floor, one that explains the truth of what happened to Mari all those years ago.
I'm sorry for ruining everything. I need to tell her that I'm sorry, too.-

With few other options available to him, the boy opened his mouth to try to cry out for help, but stopped himself. The lake was empty. The area was completely closed off by oak trees, trees that were flourishing proudly- stiflingly so. Across the water was a pier crafted from beaten wooden planks. No one stood on it, and no one stood across the other end of the lake bed. There were no signs that anyone had been there for a long time. Just by looking around, anyone could see that crying out for help would be futile.
There wasn’t a point, then, was there? He should just… save the effort. Let it happen. There was no way out of this, was there? The only way to carry on was to pretend that his ankles weren’t being nipped at from the abyssal water. That his calves weren’t being swallowed by the depths. That his waist wasn’t obscured by the murk. That his neck wasn’t struggling to stay above the whispering ripples. That his grasping hands…
Welcoming fingers twined through his for just a moment, offering to pull him out.
“Hero…”
He gasped, and water filled his mouth, before he slipped away.

Well, anyone would have had the same reaction if they saw Sunny, on the ground next to the incessantly ringing telephone. With a knife, sticking out of his chest, with a certain dark fluid spreading from it and staining his dark vest.

Kel was the one to suggest they check the house one last time. Just to use it as a reminder that they'd stick together, no matter what. Even in the face of Basil's death, they would promise they'd stick together, even if one of them was moving away. Sunny should've left by this point.
