Our Hero of Courage Link is being sent on a mission to control one of these portals in the Gerudo Desert. Instead of enemies coming out of the portal, eight people claim to be heroes of courage from different timelines. They didn't have to explain it to him; he knew of the legends. But why do they insist on him coming? He's not important.

He couldn’t recall the flavor of life not tainted by his curse. He shouldered the weight of his burden without complaint, hid his heart beneath sarcasm, and stumbled words. He’d struggle and claw his way to the next day even when he couldn’t see the reason.

    The Downfall Timeline heroes die but come back to life every time. This leads to complications.
    A standalone fic set in the same AU as Not Quite the Same, not a direct sequel or continuation of that story. It can be read without the others in the series.
