The heat of battle burns in each of his laboured breaths. Billy drags him across the Chamber, and Yorgrim can do nothing but laugh. Calloused fingers grip tightly around the wooden handle of his shovel as he raises the iron blade. Tonight will be the final end of William Van Brunt.
"You hear that, Van Brunt? Your family rots in the branches while mine rallies! Your coward's flee ends soon!"
There's a sickly, deafening crack as metal meets the thrall's clavicle, rotting blood splashing onto his killer's face. The shovel blade burrows past bone with the might of a greataxe, slipping seamlessly into decaying viscera. The Crooked Man grins at he who felled him, acceptance in his eyes. Roots disturb the ground beneath his feet.

The woman on the black bike keeps speed, pulls ahead of her companion and then up alongside Pyke as he touches down and strangles the accelerator; shooting off into the night as the other bike does the same. The man on the gold bike isn’t one to be left out, punching after them as they shoot across the highway. It’s wild and heady and Pyke lets out the kind of “whoop!” that would get him dragged for poor sportsmanship and cockiness once upon a time. Neck and neck they weave through traffic, flooring it on straight-aways, engines roaring as they take curves.
