Summary

But for every action, there is a reaction, and both Marinette and her old master soon find theirs is a domino effect on the one person who is left to take on the brunt of the fallout, all while questioning his own worth on both sides of the mask.

Summary
Marinette becomes a Red Lantern and is mentored by Guy Gardner, World's Okayest Dad. She fights tooth and nail to be a better person than the ring wants her to be.
Master Fu took Chat Noir with him to rebuild the Order leaving Ladybug to protect Paris alone. She could handle it without giving into her emotions. It's fine when the Ladybug miraculous grows unbalanced with the lack of a Black Cat, it's just bad luck. Losing her half finished notes on the Grimoire to a home burglary was just bad luck. Hawkmoth reinforcing the glamor to the extent that the Justice League didn't even remember she existed was just bad luck. Her family dying in a house fire due to faulty wiring while she was out fighting an akuma was just bad luck.
Marinette's theory filled sketchbook, her last hope at finally stopping Hawk Moth, is destroyed. The akuma sent after her when the rage finally blazes out of her mental lockbox is just bad luck.
Something far worse gets to her before the akuma. Just. Bad. Luck.

A cold detachment came with the power. Her tears burned hot against her face, but her pain felt so distant. The power thrummed under her skin, ebbing and flowing with every halted breath she took. She was sure, beyond a reasonable doubt, of what she should do.
“I wish,” she paused, locking eyes with the man who had spent so much time, so much effort on causing so much pain. The man who seemed so determined to ruin her life, “for a second chance.”

After Chat Noir loses his life in the final confrontation with Hawkmoth, Ladybug wishes for a second chance. Things won't be the same this time, with a girl she's never seen before, an uncomfortable truth that she doesn't want to face, and the consequences of the wish looming over her. Will the wish be worth it? Or is the price too much to pay for one teenager?
