    “What the hell?” Twilight sputtered, words failing him. “How—what—?”

     

    “That’s exactly how I feel!” Sky wailed, running a hand through his hair. “What does this mean? Ravio dresses up as a rabbit, they have a ton of rabbit decorations around…Legend can talk as a rabbit, so he must be able to communicate in rabbit-language. Animal-language.”

    Baby bunnies. Sky…Was he right? How would—-how did that even…

     

    Twilight gulped. How long did Legend spend as a rabbit after all?

    In which Ravio gifted Legend a bunch of baby bunnies and dyed their fur pink as a total joke. Legend calls them his children.

    No, Legend reminds himself harshly, trying to shove the thought away. This isn’t familiar. It’s just a beach, he’s seen other beaches before, not every beach is the beach. The beach where Wind lives had looked sort of familiar, too, before he took a closer look at it, because all beaches are similar to each other by virtue of all being beaches.

    But it isn’t just a passing resemblance. As he takes a closer look at the terrain and the shape of the coastline, he realizes that it - it fits. He knows this place.

    He can’t know this place, though, he thinks with rising horror, because this place stopped existing years ago.

    Sky shrugs. He’s fiddling with something, and Legend’s ear twitches at the soft shhhhk of a knife on wood. Sky’s carving.

    “Fair enough. I can take over, if you want.”

    “Bad dreams?” Sky whispers back, an odd note in his voice. When Legend glances over at him, there’s a knowing look on his face. Knowing and pained. Legend realizes that if their resident sleepyhead isn’t going to bed, he has a damn good reason for it.

    “… Yeah,” Legend replies quietly, and doesn’t elaborate.

    Snippets of the events of Hyrule Warriors. Featuring mostly the relationship between The Captain/Warriors(19-21), Tune/Wind(12-13), and Mask/Time(11-13). Though there is plenty of other stuff as well. It's in non-chronological order and takes place in the LU universe and LU timeline. and I'll put down everything in the order I get ideas. It's also canon to my stupidly complicated AU

    The war takes place over a year and a half, and Tune and Mask remain for 6 months after the war ends. Mask is brought in near the very beginning and Tune is brought in after the first year of the war. Also since I haven't played Hyrule Warriors, can't find any 'story explained' videos, and haven't watched gameplay, I'll be pulling any battles and relationship dynamics out of my ass.

    Warriors took a moment to collect his thoughts, took a deep breath, and said “It was the very first battle. I was pulled away to the front lines immediately. I was gone for a week, fighting, and when I got back to the town… I found out that she was one of the first to die. And by the time I got back, she was already buried.”

    “... Shit, Wars,” Legend said softly.

    “I don’t remember the last thing I said to her,” Warriors admitted, running a finger along the edge of the paper. “I was too focused on training, and… meaningless things. So I keep the drawing around. I’ve forgotten a lot of people, a lot of soldiers over the years, but I… That’s someone I’m definitely not going to forget.”

     

    Or: Warriors had a girlfriend before the war. She died. She doesn't stay that way.
