Summary
Having re-read the Wraith trilogy during the pandemic (and with a lot of free time), I wondered what the series would look like from the POV of Dorset Konnair - the aggressively fast A-Wing pilot with lots of tattoos. Now it’s getting into the Thrawn trilogy. (Part 3, on the aftermath of Selaggis, ended with a hook about Thrawn and C’Baoth.)
Part 4 includes my idea of what the Wraiths were doing then, alongside the A-Wing pilots who are expanded from their novel depiction or original characters. The main three each get a bit of romantic subplot in this, but that’s kept in the background compared to the action. There isn’t graphic violence, but the dark nature of the war is an element in this even more than Parts 2-3.
Since I took a pause after Part 3, this opens with a list of the characters and some “the story so far” details in the first chapters. This whole thing is very niche around the Star Wars stories I enjoy most, and there’ll be some obscure references to the X-Wing books/comics and other Star Wars works as well as callbacks to my own Parts 1-3. I usually explain that in the chapter notes.

Summary
This continues my series on the unsung A-Wing hero of the Wraith trilogy (If you haven’t, I recommend reading parts 1 and 2 given the amount of original material.) It covers the period between Solo Command and Heir to the Empire, though the first half is focused on Dorset recovering from the events at Vahaba and Selaggis. Survivor’s guilt is a major element - it builds on the bleakness of the Part 2 ending until around Chapter 5. (The “major character death” tag is because of the continued effects of Part 2, I promise Dorset doesn’t lose any more friends in this one.)
Credit to the late Aaron Allston for writing the Wraith trilogy and to Stackpole for the Rogue books as well. I was inspired to write this by reading the excellent Interregnum series on here, so check that out too. And the kudos spam bot struck again so disregard that.

Part 5 has three semi-separate phases (Isard’s Revenge, Shadow Hand, and the path to Starfighters of Adumar)
I'm currently posting the third phase, which covers the events after Empire's End. The superweapons in that and Dark Empire were definitely toned down, and it also had lots of inspiration from the “Retreat from Coruscant” story in Tales from the Empire (where Taryn Clancy comes from.) On that note, a spoiler that I didn’t want to spring mid-chapter: Dorset’s parents are going to be off-screen casualties when the Imps retake Coruscant and start fighting each other pre-Dark Empire. It’s a sad plot point I’ve had in mind since the beginning.
If you’re seeing this I assume you’ve read Parts 1-4 already but the first chapter has some recap details as well. The Dramatis Personae list is meant to encompass all of Part 5, so some people there (especially on the Imperial side) won’t show up for awhile.

Summary
This is set in a Happy AU of the sequel trilogy with parts of the original trilogy and Star Wars legends included.
Since this is AU, there are some minor changes, mostly to the Sequel Trilogy events, using information from Before the Awakening by Greg Rucka. Instead of Lieutenant Muran dying when his starfighter is caught in the Yissiria Zyde's hyperspace wave he is only injured. This still results in Rapier Squad (with Muran) leaving the Republic to join the Resistance.
Events of The Last Jedi are also altered. The Resistance manages to evacuate D'Qar without losing the bombers and most of the starfleet. They are caught by the First Order over Crait. The bridge is still attacked but not as bad. This means Leia and Ackbar are badly injured but live and Holdo is put in temporary command. Poe still tries to mutiny and they do get into the escape pods but instead of using the Holdo Maneuver on the Supremacy, she rams the ship to disable it and give time for The Echo of Hope to reenforce them. Everyone lives and manages to escape Crait.
Events of The Rise of Skywalker are only altered to allow Snap Wexley, Leia, and almost everyone to survive the Battle of Exegol.

Summary
Rina Hambly, short order cook for the Rebellion and die hard introvert, is caught up in the Imperial attack on Folor Base and swept up with the evacuating Wraith Squadron.
With her less than honest father trying to arrange her marriage, and her famous cousin trying to find her a friend; Rina has to race against time, her family, and the Empire to try and keep her career and her sanity intact.
Her impossible situation is made worse when a pair of bickering pilots decide to take her under their wing to 'fix' her in between raids from a stolen ship.
Staying inside suddenly seems so much more enticing!
