Lance knew, realistically, that Keith didn’t mean any of it but it stung nonetheless. He turned his head away to hide the way his eyes began to water, picking at the fabric of his hoodie.

That’s the situation Lance has found himself in as Keith is the target of the Druid’s newest robobeast and each time Keith dies the time loop restarts. But as if watching Keith die over and over wasn’t horrible enough, there’s a limit. And unless Lance can figure out how to protect Keith, the next time he dies… he’s going to stay dead.

Summary
It’s silent in the Black Lion’s cargo bay save for the steady beeps that tell Keith the cryo-pod is working and that Shiro is going to be okay. That’s one of them at least. Now that the fight is over the adrenaline is fading and Keith is realizing just how messed up all of this is. So the quiet is nice… until it’s broken by Lance’s footsteps and his words. And in this instance maybe it’s okay for something to be broken.

In which the Paladins have been taken hostage by a Galran ship after being ambushed at a customary Balmera check-up. Lance is dragged to interrogation by the Lieutenant General, and to Lance’s horror the Lieutenant takes off his mask to reveal a mullet, some new scars and a very confused Keith Kogane.
Keith has been missing for a year on a vital mission that nobody on Voltron was informed about, and to hell if Lance isn’t going to do whatever it takes to bring him back to Allura’s ship. Lance has been holding onto gossamer threads to keep himself from missing Keith, and his repression is running ridiculously thin. It’s time to do something about wanting Keith back, and if that means performing mission impossible, then bring it on.

“Uh,” Hunk coughed, ignoring the fact that he’d grabbed Lance’s attention. Lance beamed brightly, stomach forgotten, as he leapt to his feet and hugged the breath out of Hunk. “What happened?”
“Keith found out about the venom,” Coran answered him, moving to the door. “It did not go over well.”

Summary
Keith is not a fan of this supply run mission: the company (Lance, who won’t stop talking), the time waste (they should be looking for Shiro) and the shuttle (piece of junk next to the Lions). But when they crash and Keith is injured — and that might be understating it a bit but it’s hard to think and everything hurts and God make it stop— none of that matters anymore. What matters is that red is outside when it should be in and Lance’s hands and voice are so gentle but scared too and Keith is wondering if he’s ever going to see Shiro again. Otherwise… maybe he’ll see his pop.
