“You’re, you’re breathtaking,” said the man, his voice deep. Merlin knew it wasn’t possible but he felt he had fallen even more in love with him in that moment.
“I can hardly accept such praise when you exist,” he countered instead, clearing his throat slightly. “I hope you will forgive me for my hungry stare. I have not seen true beauty until tonight.”
The stranger laughed and their proximity meant Merlin could feel it before the sweet sound graced his ears. He wished they were closer if only to hear the beating of his heart against his own, for that must be the gods’ design in letting this angel escape from the heavens above.
“I cannot condemn a man for doing what I have done unabashedly. I am Arthur.” Merlin introduced himself too and that was the end of their conversation, because he pulled Arthur closer by his neck and pressed his lips upon his.
