Her voice had begun to crack at the end. She was exhausted and terrified. It would set her back years, maybe even be unfixable if she messed up.
"I-I do..."
A hand appeared in her vision and began to pull at some wires she had yet to grab. "I just want you to be okay.....and if this is what it takes for that to happen, I am going to help."
"Thank you, Herb..."
They both knew what would happen if they got caught. Messing around with the Infinite Switchboard was a death sentence. They wouldn't kill her, of course, but she couldn't help but shudder when thinking of the alternatives to death.
An alarm rang through the speakers.
"Fuck!" She hissed while scrabbling to the next station.
A few more wires were switched, and the screen in the middle lit up. On it was a desolate, dilapidated town with a teenager digging through the rubble.................
