Hates that he and Sam agreed to do Rhodes a little favor, go check out a not strictly on the books government installation after the last bunch of poor saps Rhodes sent there never came back out.
Hates being in this terrible, creepy underground facility, this warped reflection of all the other terrible, creepy underground facilities he spent way too much of the past eighty years in. Hates how there’s always an unpleasant memory around the next corner. And something worse around the rest.
He hates the realization that unpleasant memories are quickly becoming the least of his problems. And he really hates the sinking feeling that they might not make it out of here intact. Or at all.

Summary
There are, Sam has found, a number of things he does enjoy about being Cap. Saving people, sure. The suit, well that thing’s pretty sweet. The hordes of fawning admirers that absolutely do exist, no matter what Bucky says to the contrary? They’re not so bad either.
And there are things he enjoys less. Spending too much time in stuffy rooms around large tables where everyone just talks circles around one another. Living in a world where he has to be a voice for the voiceless, because no one else will be. Wreaking violence on a near-daily basis, because that seems to be the only language some people understand.
And there are things he really cannot stand. Like today. The saving innocent civilians, that’s alright. The doing violence to violent people, he can live with. But the having to sit here, pretending not to care while someone beats up his partner/co-worker/guy with a mutual friend right in front of him? Yeah. He’s over this shit.

And now, here they are. Trapped in a metal box the size of a storage locker, the seam of the door barely visible. A series of vents at the top, all too small to even think of crawling through, keep them from suffocating.

Summary
For as long as Bucky had known him, he’s rarely seen Sam get sick. He’s usually in tip-top shape and generally healthy. If he was being honest, he sometimes forgets that Sam isn’t like him. So imagine his surprise when Sam gets a head cold.
Sam had always tried his best to conceal his weaknesses whenever on the job. He didn't have time to think about it in the heat of the moment. When he's in his gear, he's no longer Sam Wilson. He's Captain America. And as far as he knows, Captain America doesn't complain over a runny nose and headache.

“Nat,” he said softly, reaching up, standing on his tip-toes, and carefully pulling the seaman’s ropes which tied her still. He caught her when she fell, but Nat was stubbornly standing on her own feet within a couple of seconds after. Bucky couldn’t decide whether to back off entirely before he became a victim of her female rage, or whether to help her. He decided the latter, not yet sure of his choice, but nonetheless zipping Nat’s suit back up to her neck where she liked to keep it and reverently brushing her hair out of her eyes. His eyes flicked back to the seaman who had been about to... you know. Buck was glad he'd already dealt with that misogynist idiot.
“You okay?” he whispered, softly.
“You didn’t have to do that for me. I could have handled it—“ Nat closed her eyes for a second but stumbled out of his grasp towards the windows for their escape.
“I didn’t do it for you. I did it for me. And the benefit of the entire rest of the entire earth. Of course you could have handled it. That bigot was pissing me off.” Bucky clarified, mostly truly. Yeah, he was also protecting her. But the rest of what he said was true, too. -
